Obama: Something is wrong with country's politics

1: That FDR was elected 4 times in no way makes him the greatest President - you're arguing an appeal to popularity.

This is true.

2: FDR's creation of the Federal welfare state set the stage for the mess we're in now - runaway entitlement spending, spending staunchly supported/defended by the Democrats so that they might gain and retain as much politcal power as possible.

This is another story. You basically refuse to blame the GOP for anything, including Reagan for bailing out Social Security, Bush for enacting an unfunded Drug bill that increases entitlments without subsequent increases in performance, and you ENTIRELY ignore the aspect of massive defense increases, much of it debt financed. While reasonable people accept that entitlement is a big cause of our problems, it is not the cause of our debt at the moment as all entitlements are in fact solvent at the moment. While they are projected to be huge deficit drivers (and I readily accept that), you do yourself no favors by basically acting like a massive hack who refuses to do basic math.

Or to bring in one of the largest abusers as our jobs czar?
Czars seriously...... Czars have been around sense Reagan... Its not something to be afraid of man...

Czars seriously...... Czars have been around sense Reagan... Its not something to be afraid of man...

Way to avoid the point. The complaint wasn't about czars. It was about who was picked.

Yea, except they're not, lol. Conservatives play the race card much more often. You're just shooting off talking points.

Who was the first person to cry racism in this thread? A Liberal, or a Conservative?

Most people agree with him. The poolitical system is messed up. You'd understand if you could see past that irrational fear of everything Obama.

Most people believe the biggest problem with our political system, is toooooooo much Obama. But, that will be fixed next year.

the GOP was unwilling to compromise at all when it came to tax-increases or simply closing tax-loopholes. as far as they were concerned the solution to the debt would be cutting spending ONLY.

this is not compromise.

The Republicans won the midterms. It's the Dems that should have compromised. Losers compromise, winners don't.

there IS something wrong with our political system. it's SUPPOSED to be about compromise, that's why we don't have a monarchy.

If I remember correctly when Obama came won in 2009 he told republicans "elections have consequences" and the only compromising between 2009-2010 was between Democrats. Funny how folks have such short ( or convenient) memories.

I disagree with this...
Wow, you're a complete idiot, you might want to realize some things:

1. Obama not a socialist

He just walks like a socialist, talks like a socialist, and acts like a socialist, but you're right, he calls himself a liberal and a constitutional lawyer, meanwhile it would seem that he studied on ways to circumvent the constitution.

2. He was correct in saying that something is wrong with the politics of this nation. I see it as a problem when PACs can run ads for a political campaign and donate unlimited amounts of money to a campaign and then just disappear, without anyone knowing who did the donating.

Ya, he was right in the sense, like if someone breaks into your house at night and wakes you up to tell you that your house is being robbed is also correct.

Ya, this is just a new addition to the long list of illegality in politics.

3. From the article:

His toughly worded message - he said there was frustration in his voice, in case anyone missed the point - came amid a series of polls showing that people are disgusted with political dysfunction and are dispensing blame all around, including on Obama.

Ya, and now Obama, who is just as criminal as most other politicians, is attempting to posture himself as the good guy, the man of the people.

Thus the people are disgusted with Washington as a whole not just solely with Obama, but of course, you can't notice that for your partisan hackery.

Edit: Grammar, thanks ecofarm :p

this much I agree with, even Obamas support base has been dissolving.

What did Obama say about how the Republicans had to, "sit in the back seat"? Or, "don't tell me how to hold the mop"? Oh and my favorite, "we won".

Didn't see a speck of compromise from '08 to '10. Try again.

Did Obama compromise on the drilling moratorium? New coal regulations? CAFE standards? The Stealfromus package?

The only time the Democrats compromised, was when they stopped and said, "we better not do that, we'll get voted our, for sure!". That's not, "compromise", that's, "CYA".

Obama is a hypocrite. One of the major problems with politics is how he rants like an arrogant child and points fingers at everyone but himself.

Of course Obama compromised on the drilling moratorium. In case you missed it, new drilling permits are presently being approved. And of course Obama has compromised on greenhouse gas emissions. Has he been pushing for cap and trade? No. Has he proposed a national energy tax? No. The stimulus package? Of course he compromised there. He had to in order to get a few votes from moderate Republicans. Taxes? Yes, he compromised away sunsetting the top Bush tax cuts. Health care? He compromised away the public option and lower drug prices through collective bargaining. Debt ceiling? He compromised away essentially everything Democrats were seeking.

Liberals love to use that "F" word upon encountering a concept they can't comprehend and/or espouse.

I just read this thread and you people are crazy. 90% of everything said in here was ridiculous. This topic does not represent reality or even the view of a normal American. I don't think people understand what socialism, racism, and fear is.

Socialism is when money is taken from the people and held by the government so the people never see it and never benefit from it.

Racism is when you dislike someone because of their race, not their politics or policies.

Fear is when you don't have a job and the mortgage is due last month.

How many have been approved in the past nine months? 6? He shut down 33+ rigs.

The moratorium is over and NEW permits are being approved.

Guys back things up with sources, it helps your argument.

He has been giving permits. Unfortunately Oil price is more directly dependent on speculation than supply.

Finally while I believe we should drill more it is not the solution to our problem, it can have a somewhat positive effect. The bottom line is we don't have enough reserve sin America to last very long even if we drilled it all. Some of that drilling is also really expensive and would increase the price of gas.

He is 100% Correct! There is Nothing wrong with this country! The problem is politics messing it up. He is right.

Purely GOP talking points...
Both of which are absolutely true.

without FDR this country would no longer exist as a republi my guess is that we would be talking German or Japanese.
Your "guess" proceeds from a position of abject ignorance.

This is true....
This is another story. You basically refuse to blame the GOP for anything,
If you've paid any attention whatsoever, you'd know this is false.

He is 100% Correct! There is Nothing wrong with this country! The problem is politics messing it up. He is right.

But...Obama said that we had to fundamentally change the United States. Obviosuly, he thinks there more wrong with the country than just the politics.

Oh My Gawd!!!!! Is this clown for real? Is he really saying to people that he was the one that wanted to compromise, and the others weren't? I guess that makes sense in liberal speak a compromise is when you see everything their way.

Look, don't take it from me, let's hear from Felonious Monk, an Obama supporter no doubt.....

Demo's, the Black community, liberals, and the most important group independents are leaving this clown in droves...Obama will be lucky to only lose by a close number, and not cause a conservative landslide....

Thanks for the Socialist cretin libs, you have single handedly woken up America to your lies, and exposed how dishonest it all is, now good luck ever getting this type of chance again in the near future.....hahahaha.....:2wave:

The lesson here for America is that socialism doesn't work.
