Hey Apdst we can probably win any war that we truly wish to fully engage in, but those days have been over since the last great war...WW2. I think enough is enough and ten years of war isn't healthy for any nation. Afghanistan has no strategic value, it's no a direct threat currently and we nothing in common with these people, it's time to wrap it up and leave all we are doing now is playing wack a mole. I think we need to take a hard look at our current foreign policy and how we operate around the world and try to figure out if we do so with in our constitutional boundaries.

BTW..what's your opinion on putting 25 special operators on one chopper, a Chinook no less?
Inside job, special ops were ratted out by a mole?

In my opinion you are mistaken. We were not beaten militarily. We had a political decision to run away. We could discuss this in a separate thread if you like.

I think this has been proven for 5000 years, the terrain, it's tribal, religiously motivated, environment and the people are all working against any invading army.

One sure way to win over this insanity drop the neutron bomb or bombs, but who/country in their right mind would do this?

The Taliban live among the Pashtun people, in Waziristan (sp), way up in the Hindu Kush Mountains, which many say have never been controlled by any surrounding country. The Taliban is a problem, and a threat, when it rules Afghanistan. It's just a no-win situation. Maybe Afghanistan should be dissolved as a country. Who knows? The place will always haunt Civilized Man.

Reduced blast, enhanced radiation warheads (neutron bombs) were intended to stop an enemy by killing his armored warriors while not destroying German towns a few kilometers away. Given that the Afghani insurgents are not conducting mobile armored warfare it is the wrong tool to use.

We do not need to win in Afghanistan. We do need to prevent the Taliban from winning.

America hasn't won a war since we abandoned the policy of Total War. A time tested and true method for actually WINNING WARS.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Short of absorbing nuclear attacks, North Vietnam had no breaking point. Kissinger openly lamented that fact. He said, "I can't believe a fourth-rate military power like North Vietnam has no breaking point." Kissinger was obsessed with power, but had to admit he couldn't break North Vietnam. Johnson had to start lying to America about North Vietnam and its prosecution of the war almost immediately after sending in conventional troops in 1965. The war stymied him, and everybody else who worked it, from a policy perspective. It couldn't be won, without nukes, which would've ignited WWIII.
