Agents raid raw food club, farm(edited)

Re: Raw Milk Arrests

Raw milk can pose a serious threat to the health of people, and by serious I mean it could killl them.

I am amazed that people don't get the facy that a few rules and regulations are there for the right reasons and do some good.

We I was a kid raw milk was not the threat it has become and everyone had a cow.

The world is a smaller place today and the spread of illness from being spread in a matter of hours is very real, 49 or 50 years back it could take weeks to catch something in California the came fom Africa. Now it's just s plane ride away.

I agree the Government cans be a pain in the ass but this is not one of those times.

Oysters on the half shell can kill too, but you don't see that regulated like raw milk. Why is that?

Re: Raw Milk Arrests

irradiation of food could solve most food poisoning issues. unfortunately, the term sounds scary.

cooking meats creates heterocyclic amines, which are carcinogenic. that's apparently not scary enough to prevent people from cooking, however. it's amazing to me that the many thousands of deaths from food poisoning aren't enough to generate more support for an effective solution.

I like fresh fruits and veggies but I can't always afford to eat the wholesome stuff like that all the time.

About 2 months ago, i bought the power juicer and have developed a bit of a fetish. I even took it on vacation with me last month because of the guilt associated with going to bed without 6 oz of brocholli/baby spinach/raddish juice. Simply amazing!

When i run out of raw yogurt for my morning smoothies, it could ruin my day.

In Cabo San Lucas Mexico, all milk in the grocery stores (the real Mexican ones) is sold at room temp which is about 80°+.

Can't thank from here but props to Goldenboy's posts.

Oh yeah, raw milk. The number one threat to our society. Doesn't the government have better things to do with its time and our money?

Re: Raw Milk Arrests

Not true at all. Pasteurizing is only heating the milk to kill bacteria, that's all.

It kills all the beneficial enzymes within it, some of which help you with the very digestion process. It also kills any vitamins that can't survive heating, such as B vitamins.

Re: Raw Milk Arrests

Is this a constitutional matter perhaps, but those who raid outfits that sell this product, well it's unconstitutional IMO. The question is who can correct this injustice, the people can but we are apparently to lazy or busy to do so.

Well, in terms of human health, the government can bypass the constitution for public safety. What they are doing is not wrong in terms of legal action. What is wrong is that contaminated milk is a thing of the past.

There are food companies with increasingly lax standards applied to them, so we get outbreaks of listeria and salmonella in meats and even produce that cause nation-wide concern. Yet we never remove those products from the shelves or even sanction the companies who make these fatal errors. So we have a nice double standard happening here. The same people who panic over raw milk and call for restrictions won't say anything when people are being poisoned yearly from contaminated food products that are due to unkept industry farming practices.

There was mass infection of TB about 60 years ago when infected cows were being milked, but that was because we had no proper testing standard for TB in cattle, or an effective cure for TB. Since then TB has been virtually wiped out in North America. There is NO justifiable reason to deny people access to raw milk at this point, other than to stop small time farmers from competing with an organic product.
