It is the financial worry that would be the main issue. Wondering if the bill for electricity, for gas for water will be paid for. Or if the car will make it too work next week. I grew up what would be considered poor for the city I lived in (the indian reservations were far poorer in the province). I didnt mind it too much, but the stress it put on my mother is another issue. I always had food, clothing and shelter, but I would not want to live with that level of stress worrying about money.

Sorry, I'm not saying "It's all Obama's fault" This has been a long developing problem. Many have had a hand in it. My position is that we shouldn't be adding to it.

Again I can point out that stress comes in many forms and there really is no way to completely eliminate any of it. Once you have 2 televisions, you want three, and then you want a better place to put it and then..........

That's right. Many of us have probably lived in genuine poverty but that doesn't mean we weren't leading fulfilling lives. There are many ways we can personally enrich ourselves and those around us without having a lot of money in the bank.

But I doubt many poor are worried about the number of tvs they have. The water bill, the electricity bill, the rent, etc. A TV at a pawn shop can be bought very cheaply, and is a one time expense. Paying for insulin every month is not.

Heck a used Xbox can be bought by a kid with a paper route money for a month or two. Any home in the US requires a phone either a cell or land. Getting or keeping a job without one would be difficult. Parts of the US will require a car of some sort to get to work ( unless you have rather kind friends)

Which has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

    Or more to the point

You can be poor and unhappy or you can be rich and unhappy, but I would rather be rich and unhappy

You can be poor and happy or you can be rich and happy, but I would rather be rich and happy

It tends to make things better rather then worse

Money might now be able to buy love or happiness, but it helps.
