US companies are not finding it hard to compete. Many are doing just fine. American labor costs, from the ground up are expensive compared to some other countries. In order to raise profits companies that can outsource due so. A 2.5% excise tax on medical equipment sold in the US is not going to cost that much in profits to a single company as it will be applied to all medical devices. Boston Scientific is cutting salaries due to high cost structures (and potentially adjusting to a cut in medicare/medicaid) It is expanding in China because China has a huge potential market, and a lower cost structure (vastly lower wages) but China also has far higher risks and levels of uncertainty then the US, you can not count on the Chinese legal system to enforce laws that should protect Boston Sci (or other companies).

Dangerous? No. She wasn't. She would have simply been at the hospital run up a bill they couldn't pay. She believed her daughter had cancer, fixated on a condition that ahd no symptoms, thus no way to prove lack of the cancer to her. Back then there were no real medical or chemical aids to help with the phobia. Traditional treatment was failing them. She went to the er everyday, sometimes twice a day or more. He became the control.

And yes, he had a kid with her, as there was no sign that anything like this would happen. It took them years, years to finally find some help. During that time they went bankrupt, lost everything, but were able to find peace once medicine caught up. They are not alone.

The point is, it is easy to make a judgements when you're not wlaking in someone else's shoes. That's an old time saying. Old school thought.

    who's judging?

the average american living below the poverty line today---and there are FORTY MILLION among us to choose from---is living with cable, internet, a dvd, air conditioning, cell phone...

the average american in poverty today, however, does not have a printer

the facts speak for themselves, multiplied by FORTY MILLION

if the average american below the poverty line today gets sick and has NO INSURANCE, then he or she will actually fare better in our still best health care system in the world than will those whose primary pay status is defined as medicare, the ghetto of us health care

Very few stats actually speak for themselves. Someone has to make a judgement about what those numbers mean.

    LOL!

98% of the FORTY MILLION americans below the poverty line today owning a tv means 39,200,000 americans in poverty today have a tv and 800,000 don't

81% of the FORTY MILLION, by the way, have a microwave, 78% air conditioning, 65% a second tv, 65% a dvd, 64% cable, 55% a cell phone, 32% a third tv...

did you know that almost one in five americans in poverty today actually owns a GIANT FLAT SCREEN TV?

that's a FACT (according to the dept of energy)

EIGHT MILLION flat screen tv's require an awful lot of interpreting

    get to work

Free Trade can work. It just needs tariffs applied to countries who violate human rights laws.
Also, we need to legalize recreational drugs and prostitution.
