You're another one of the folks on the Left that thinks that raising business taxes only applies to large corporations and forget about the small businesses that will be hit, too. But hey, that's what the big corporations want you think, it means less competition for them.

Not sure she is or isn't the left, but you do realize you're not actually arguing with her, but the sterotype you think she is a part of?

income taxes aren't the only reason that those who are employed will pay more. for example, you'll pay health care premiums that expand much faster than the pace of inflation to cover those who can't pay at all. and you'll pay in the form of devalued currency because the government had to borrow more (and print money) to keep displaced workers afloat. and if money isn't printed, the employed will have to pay more taxes.

all in all, it's better to have people working, even if it means goods and services cost more.

Dare I ask what you mean by GDP growth not "keep up with population"?

the GDP sucks because wages have stagnated, many are out of work, and energy prices have soared. on top of that, the printing of money has forced the value of existing dollars down.

all in all, the imported energy / outsourced labor model has failed. our GDP is fueled by consumer spending. consumers without jobs or disposable income don't purchase as many discretionary goods and services.

we need to hire people in the US. that's the only way out of this. anything else is a bandaid that won't stick. if we have to pay more for retail goods, that's better than paying a lot more in taxes and entitlements.

It's tough to counter vague generalizations. "in some cases". Like what?
