Glenn Beck likens Norwegian dead to Hitler youth

so you don't?

Apdst isn't here to have a debate about this.

He intentionally comes into threads and says these inflammatory things to rile people up, it's what he gets off on.

Have enough tissues today apdst?

It was run by a political party, but your assessment that it was used for brainwashing or indoctrination are purely speculation. You have no clue what the camps were actually like.

Also, according to many here, brain washing and indoctrination are perfectly acceptable, if it is towards their stance. I wonder if these people have a problem with church summer camps or parents teaching their children right from wrong.

He has a point. Why on earth would a political party set up a camp such as this? Brainwashing, perhaps?

He doesn't have a point, he just has a sure-fire way of making money -- leap off the deep end and charge for tickets to see him flail around and make a complete ass out of himself.

Birds of a feather flock together. There is no shortage of other fools that tune into Beck and for that reason he should have a long and prosperous career. Sounds like a pretty good gig if you ask me.

See this is why I disagree with anyone who says that Glenn Beck is dumb.

I don't think he's dumb at all, I think he's one clever mofo.

He found his audience (who are actually the dumb ones) and played their asses like a fiddle.

Brilliance.

I wouldn't be able to keep up the charade of BS and stay in character.

Exactamundo. I see somebody wore their thinking cap to class today.

It may come as a huge surprise to the likes of you, but European youth tend to become politically active much earlier than their US counterparts. There is no brainwashing involved. Our kids are simply much more mature and aware of the world around them than yours are. There's more to a teen's life over here than rotting their brains with trash like American Idol and Jersey Shore.

One does look like a fool anytime they compare something to anything the Nazi's did. All the same you'll see similiar done all the time on message boards including this one.

I would never send my kid to a political camp though. Not even one run by one I supported. For those who would, it doesn't make them anything like the Nazi's.

It was a joke.

Albiet perhaps a slightly bad one but its not as if I was mocking the dead...

Oh well.

Sorry I was so quick to jump. But I do believe that is verboten here and better hear it from me than a mod. I know. I just earned myself a warning yesterday. We're on the same page though, for what it's worth.

Yea... who would hold a camp for kids that's all about politics?

Tea Party to hold camp for kids at local church

Oh... :coffeepap

Yep. Nothing like fear and anger to 'gin' up some of that ol' time religion.

Ah yes only the nazi have political camps!

Teen Age Republicans or "TAR" is a political youth organization that is an official auxiliary to the United States Republican Party. There are various TAR clubs throughout the United States, at county and state levels. TAR has a presence in all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, and has membership in the tens of thousands. Clubs are organized on and off campus into middle school, high school, home-schooled, county and city clubs.[citation needed] The oldest recorded Teen Age Republican Federation is in South Dakota. This Federation was formed in 1960.[1]

TAR provides support to the Republican party and its candidates. TAR members work across the United States to perform community service, develop leadership skills, gain first-hand knowledge of practical political process and apply all these to sway elections in the favor of the Republican Party.[citation needed]

[edit] OrganizationTAR is organized in chapters across United States. There are federations in most states, and clubs in counties and high schools. The organization structure consists of:

National TAR office - serves only two main functions:
1.provide information on existing clubs and/or provide resources and advice on starting a club in areas that do not already have one
2.organise the national Teenage Leadership Conference (TLC) and awards ceremony
State TAR federations - similar to the Republican Party, the majority of TAR activity takes place on the State level:
receive some financial support from their state Party
most have an elected executive board with its own constitution
organise statewide events (e.g. summer camp, mock legislative sessions)
County and Local Clubs - sub-ordinate to state organizaions
formed at county, city or school level
similar structure and activities to state federations, albeit at a more local levelhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Republicans
Hmmm????

It is no secret that the religious right in the US are practically synonomous with rightwing politics and there are church camps and indoctrination "academies" all over the place down south. Anybody got any problem with that?
Of course they don't. Those camps are their side.

Can only agree fully with this.

And these camps are just like most other summer camps I have ever been on except they have political debates (often with other parties present as well) and workshops, both political and non political... plus of course parties and loads of fun :)

Because you are working off of pure speculation. You have no clue what the intention of the camp was other than it was politically motivated. We know that a nutcase slaughtered a bunch of innocent people. The fact that Glenn Beck would focus his attention on something that he doesn''t actually know to be a fact considering the horrific incident that happened is disgusting, frankly. I can't imagine that anyone would actually defend his asinine behavior other than for partisan reasons.

Actually, I'm not speculating, but I know you're going to go off on whatever tangent the voices tell you to.

The 68 victims killed on Utøya were participating in a "youth camp" for the Labor Party. What happens at a Norwegian political youth camp?

Debates, lectures, and regular summer camp stuff. Approximately 700 Labor Party enthusiasts between the ages of 14 and 25 descend on Utøya every year during summer break. The four-day event receives national media attention, and prominent Labor politicians make a point of addressing the group.

When do you teach them that level of arrogance? That must be a long camp.

But, instead, it came in the form of Liberalism and is led by the messiah, Barack Obama.
