Glenn Beck likens Norwegian dead to Hitler youth

Because Beck is completely nuts. If you want to be taken seriously you need to at least have some claim to sanity and legitimately. Take Bill O'Riely for instance. While he is no doubt biased he is a lot more credible than Beck or a lot of other right-wing media types, because he stays away from controversy for the sake of controversy. He also let's people of opposing view come on his show and will actually debate him, that helps him a lot. I still don't agree with him at all, but if I had to trust one I'd trust him before Beck.

Bill got in a lot of trouble for sexual harassment, so I wouldn't trust him at all... He is probably a major asshole with ego problems and thinks women should worship him.

Oh I don't doubt any of that, I'm just saying if I was forced to pick between the two of them to trust on an issue I'd pick Bill even though he isn't trustworthy at all himself. I mean who can forget his "tide goes tide goes out. Can't explain that." Okay so maybe I was wrong.

I knew what you meant. But since I am a female, I'd probably pick Beck to sit down and talk with because I don't get the same feeling from him. I know he is married and tries to present himself like a Christian and they aren't supposed to cheat on their wives. I would probably vomit if Bill O Reilly hit on me. Plus when he screams, his face looks like he is having a stroke and I think he probably sprays spit.

Glenn Beck might not send his kids to camp, but if he puts them through his college, it's just as bad. He also probably lectures them and indoctrinates him like all wing nuts do, so there is really no difference. His kids would probably be better off going to a republican camp than getting an ear full of his paranoid rants and crying fits.

Glen's kids don't believe his nonsense. Beck himself doesn't even believe his own crazy statements. He just opens his mouth, ****** comes out, and people listen. The people who listen to him are a nice, big, gullible audience, just the kind that advertisers like, So beck makes a pile of money from the **** that comes out of his mouth. It's a sweet deal for him.

except he does have to use lot of mouthwash.

I think a big part of what you're saying is true, but I am not sure because he gets really emotional sometimes and cries, often ties religion into it. He is also egotistical and seems to want to appear he is doing God's work, so it reminds me of fraudulent preachers and televangelists. I am just not sure how much of it he believes is a lie, and how much he believes himself.

And btw... Obama and GWB smashed together, kind of looks like an Asian guy

President Buma, America's first Philipino American president.

Do you have the birth certificate on that cause I got one saying he is from Tahiti....The ink is even dry.

I used to like Beck a lot. His show, at least in the first year, was often thought-provoking and he did raise many good points. As someone who doesn't stubbornly cling to any fixed ideology, although I seem to find myself more and more to the right of center lately, I found his commentary very interesting and often even agreed with him. But then something happened and his discourse became increasingly reminiscent of the likes of Alex Jones and I seriously started to question both his intelligence and his sanity. He had the advantage at one point and he completely blew it. I barely could stand to watch him for 5 minutes at a time in the end. Never listened to his radio show so I can't comment on that, but if the OP is any indication, he's still competing for most insane pundit of the year.

I listened to him as well, for a while. Thought he made some interesting points.
Then he turned into a media wh...., got addicted to ratings, talked about what came across as sensationalism, what appealed most to his listeners.
THat, and I can take drama for only so long. Facts are more my style.

As an American, he has every right to teach his children whatever he pleases, within reason, as send them to any school he can afford.
Its a free country. Not sure what this has to do with anything.

When I was in Europe, they didn't think I was American and when I told them I was American, they acted shocked... I never understood why. I asked a guy from France once, and he said my name doesn't sound very American and I don't look/act American... lol. IDK. But I did get the same feeling that they think Americans are stupid, know little about world and geography, and they hated GWB before America actually did.

Too bad that the Europeans you describe do overgeneralize. As for me, I wouldn't even dare to say that ALL Europeans are ignorant, are all the same, based on what I think about a few citizens , or the leaders of the individual European countries..
Sadly we don't all think like that. The world would be a much better place, if we wouldn't give in to preconceived notions and bias.

Yes. While I may have chosen a milder version of the same, this sums it up nicely.
As I always say, they want ears and eyeballs.
But lets not forget, most people are rather gullible. We should never buy into one source of information, but research and compare, in context, anything that is being said.

He throws religion into the mix, to gain more credibility in Christian communities.
Being a Christian myself, I don't buy it though. One shouldn't cause strive, but seek peace, shouldn't say "while I have mine, I don't care if they have theirs".
Just as absurd as it is for a Rev Wright to instill hatred/unrest/dissatisfaction into the hearts of his congregation, Beck shouldn't be mentioned as anything close to a Christian.

The main reason Beck should not be mentioned as a Christian is that he is Mormon.

I would go as far as to say that they were insulting SheWolf. She should have responded "yeah, and everyone, in every other country, told me you guys were all stereotyping morons. Strange world."

The one line picked out of what was probably a minutes long rant on the subject is very damning but I would have to hear the whole thing so it was in context before I came down real hard on Beck. If what he said has been posted or linked to in it's entirety I apologize but this is a really long thread and I have a really short morning.

Seriously...... I have no words for how bad this utter stupidity moronic comment is....I surely hope everyone on the US right distances themselves from this moron and his beliefs.... this comment is not only inaccurate, but hurtful and disrespectful to the dead and their families.

Shame on you Glenn Beck.

I've felt that same way about the 'youth labor party' - not just this one, but others as well.

I USE to find it disturbing - but not anymore. I now wish, when I was a teen, I cared more about politics and was more aware and involved. In our country we have an oppsite issue: teens don't give a **** on average - and suddenly when they're old enough to vote they don't know a damn thing. And that brainless zombieism to the voter box continues for years.

The idea of young people becoming politically involved is foreign in the US - usually it's just the opposite.

One American doesn't represent us all, just like Beck doesn't represent all tea partiers, or all cons, or dare I say Libertarians, however he may associate himself.
Norway does what is right for Norway, as do all European nations, as does America. Its this live and let live most can't make sense of.
What works for some doesn't work for others. How can one European nation, say Norway (to stick with the topic) compare itself to the U.S? How can one American seek to represent all Americans?
We are as different as Turkey is from Wales. Just compare CA and KY. See the difference?
Having traveled across Europe, I noticed that the French seem to think of themselves as superior to the Brits, the Germans think they are better than the Italians, etc.
So why would they think that one American, one of our posters, or a POTUS, represents all Americans without being thought of as narrow minded ?

I said the same thing and got called an arrogant Yurpean.

That's a good point. I think it's good for kids to get exposed to a lot of different beliefs. When I was growing up, my parents exposed me to a lot of different religious beliefs. My dad was born in Turkey and he is Muslim, but the stereotype is they aren't strict and he never was. My dad drinks beer sometimes and he hasn't celebrated Ramadan for a while, but he won't eat pork. My mom's family didn't really have a family religion, but my great grandpa and grandpa were Freemasons on her side. My family would go to all sorts of religious events and churches together, and they explained to me the three different major religions when I was a kid and told me all the differences. I was always happy that I was exposed to a lot and I kind of thought I was special.

I once met a girl and her family did the same raising her. They also took her to Disney World on gay day when she was a teen, just so she could see how different people are. She was also happy her parents raised her around diverse beliefs.

Stop it! Stop it! You're acknowledging that diversity is not only acceptable but amazing, and that's not politically correct! HUAC will return from the dead just to put you on trial!

Actually being serious, I totally agree. My parents did a similar thing- I went to a UCC church for the first 10 years of my life which was an experience in itself. It's a serious problem when teenagers never are educated and don't have any kind of perspective. Often when they vote it's just to vote either with, or against, their parents, which is no help at all.

Yes, people statistically vote how their parents vote. My nephew wanted to be lawyer and knew that before he graduated high school. If he wanted to go to political camps to gain some kind of experience, knowledge, and meet people, I wouldn't find that creepy at all...

But I can't say how happy I was growing up how I did... I feel that I knew a lot more about the world, the united states, and foreign countries than most kids my age. I remember going on vacation and bringing a friend, and she said it was the first time she left the state she was born in and I was so shocked by that. Later on, I found out that that wasn't very rare and then I realized my parents raised me a little differently.
