ANY junkie bites the dust...Wah...wah...wah...

It's sad. Period. And, if you don't recognize that, that speaks volumes of YOU.

Sadness surrounds us on a daily basis. It's not that I am insensitive to it but more that I am more selective as to where I invest my tears.

Out of curiousity; if we could also arrange for Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber to be hit by a bus, can we have Joe Strummer back???

It's highly likely she died of an overdose.

Life is cruel. You mourn her because she was popular. You know her; not the legion other ODs.

With cancer it depends. If you smoke 2 packs a day or so it'd be the same. Why should I be schocked and give her special attention when she dug her grave?

And that may be.

But you see, the best prevention I see is by not being a fool and taking that first shot of heroin, etc.

I mourn her because she was a lovely and talented person and am not of a mind that her addictions made her less human than anybody else on the face of this Earth. And I have a heart unlike some cold hearted asswipes that seem to wish to disrespect this woman in death.

the day all that rocks died. RIP JOE

what did Henry Rollins say, life sucks-Joe Strummer runs the NYC marathon and dies of a heart attack and Keith Richards is still kicking (and Gregg Allman too)

What an odd behavior you have.

You mourn a celebrity, yet not any of the thousands that die each day.

You don't have to cry to know that somebody's heart is broken. A mother and father lost their baby girl. She had friends, family, loved ones.

my speculation is that if she were confronted with the news of their deaths, just as she was with Amy Winehouse, her response would be just as sympathetic

Very sad story, very great waste of a wonderful musical talent.

BBC News - Amy Winehouse found dead, aged 27

Her Back to Black album was one of the best recordings of the past decade, but it seems that psychological demons and addictions got the best of her. I'm very sad at this news. She gave a lot of people a great deal of pleasure.

Not unexpected. At least she got a few decent songs out when her mind wasn't half mush.

I wonder, why wasn't there a government program for her like... prison? Everyone knew she was a waste case. She could have been locked up in 3 seconds if the cops had wanted to, and then they could have taken her dealer and other scum to the jar too.

Why is it celebrities get a pass? The Yard should be targeting musicians, they should be infiltrating their groups and shutting them down... if they were serious, for **** heads like Winehouse have a bad influence on the youth. Now... if there are no laws against drug use, then fine, but when there are laws only for some folks... and others skate... color me pissed off. For the celebs are the easy targets and locking them up like common criminals would have the greatest impact on some easily manipulated segments of society.

Re: Amy Winehouse found dead in London home Sky News Reports

Yes a talent. We don't really know her but she seemed to show great contempt for people in general. I found it hard to have a lot of sympathy for her then and now. A very angry selfish person to my view. Condolescences to the people who loved her and knew her best.

Exactly. It speaks VOLUMES about their character.

Here you have this "artist" who had the world by the shorthairs, and yet whined about her success and station in life. In my neck of the woods she was more famous for cussing, spitting, swearing and overdosing than she was for her "talent."

And I am supposed to feign some kind of sadness and remorse for her passing? Get over it people. I choose to be more selective where I place my sympathy.

But I will compromise just to show I am not totally heartless. I will say that I pity her.

"Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't have feelings. I feel real bad that I don't care. But, I don't care." **** J. Seinfeld

I tend to agree... <checks thread title - no RIP in it>

She was a dirtbag. Oh... wait... a no talent dirtbag IMO.

Great? Amy Winehouse?

Tehre was nothing great about her, not personally nor professionally.

How can anybody raise her up to be better than she was?

It was her choice to do what she did and how she did it. She is gone now and we can get on with our own lives.

Great? She didn't produce enough product over enough time to be considered one of the great ones.

Vermeer didn't produce a ton of product either and he is one of the great ones.
