'Gang of Six' revives hope for big deal in stalled debt-ceiling talks

No, are you unable to read? I even provided the link for further info.

It is a general proposal with no specifics as where the cuts will be and how much. Means nothing without specifics

There are more specifics at the site I referenced. It is actually very detailed for a framework, if you take the time to read it.

Specifics in writing... not more Obama platitudes.

I did the link. It does not list specific numbers for specific programs. It is more general terms so Obama has no responsibility to be held to specifics.

It is not a budget proposal. Do you know what framework means?

Obama provided a very detailed framework (in writing), based on the Simpson-Bowles report, for Congress to flesh out the exact amounts, for specific programs.

When it comes from Obama? Yeah... it means platitudes. You know what "Money talks bull**** walks" means?

Platitudes... meaningless platitudes.

So it is more posturing from Obama. The gang of 6 has a real proposal.

No based on the Bowles-Simpson Commission's recommendations

Largely yes, Obama based his framework on much of the Bowles-Simpson recommendations. It would seem you read the source I provided. I am impressed you did that ptif.

No the gang of 6 did that. Obama gave general things the gang of 6 is specific

That is what I said yes. Obama provide the framwork for the committee and they fleshed out the specifics. Are you for or against the bipartisan debt reduction plan by the gang of 6?

Obama showed no specifics just general information. Does Obama do tax cuts like the gang of 6?

Obama just provided the framework and let the committee fill in the speciics. So you like the gang of 6 proposal but not Obama's plan it was based on? Interesting. As you wish then, glad you are happy with the gang of 6 plan! :sun

So now you are claiming that the Bowles-Simpson plan is based on a framework provided by Obama ?????

That's the funniest thing I've read all day......... I wonder how Obama felt after "his" commission presented "his" proposals and almost every Democratic Congressperson criticized it along with almost every left-wing organization.

If they presented "his" ideas, why did he ignore it?

No, if you had read my post, and the source I provided you would know that Obama's deficit reduction framework was based on the Bowles-Simpson plan, not the other way around.

Im really not much of a fan of this plan. Yes it does have some good aspects, but all around not a fan...

Stop the BS. It is not based on Obama. Show me the Obama tax cuts in the gang of 6 bill

Your lies show what a partisan hack you are.

by the way 5 democrats votes with the GOP last night so it is a bi partisan bill.

Yeah, its far from ideal from a progressive perspective, but it also has to get passed through Congress. I don't see how a more liberal plan could make it through at this time, do you?

Obama has a general plan with no specifics which means nothing

I don't see the democrats accepting the income tax cuts

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't bills have to originate in the house?

If that's the case, doesn't it make sense that Obama wouldn't present an actual "Bill" but a framework of what he is likely to accept from congress?

Bingo! But no fair you are using reason and logic. Evidently, not everyone has that capacity. :sun

I don't see the democrats accepting the income tax cuts

Democrats helped craft it and agreed to rate cuts in exchange for an elimination of many loopholes and deductions.

Actually, as I work for a 501(c)(3), this could be damaging to my career since deductions for charitable donations will be decreased. But I'm willing to take a hit if it means keeping our economy from collapsing a second time.
