When an editor routinely asks for the phone transcripts alongside a reporter's copy to support a major story, would that suggest to you that perhaps it's more than simply "private individuals"?

When James Murdoch signed the cheques to senior policemen for services rendered, would such bribery break American corporate law?

If he did do those things he is accused of then he should rot in prison as well as the individuals who took the bribes and the reporters responsible.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Fox has holdings that require approval from the FCC, etc. If these approvals are witheld due to these scandals, then the value drops because it won't be able to make as much money. In addition, advertisers are pulling their ads, which results in reduced profits for them, which makes them a less attractive target for a takeover. If these things keep happening, the stock price can go into a free fall, and lead Fox into bankruptcy.

And something the wingnuts dont understand is that a lib can come along and buy up the remaining pieces just as easily as a rightwinger can

I agree with that. Private individuals should be banned form invading your privacy and should be thrown in prison for it.
Yes, because it's "partisan" to want criminals to pay for their crimes.

My glee at the downfall of Murdoch comes not from his political bias, but from his underhanded tactics. He's allowed to have a view, and to promote it. But he employs literally textbook examples of immoral techniques to push his agenda. That's what's wrong with him, and with Fox.

The British media, or the great majority of it, was well known to be crap. and that includes the BBC, the Guardian, and all the tabloids. Solid British journalism died a few decades ago. which is largely why the British people, among the English speaking people, remain largely uninformed, or in error, about the rest of the world. And yet, paradoxically, they feel they're quite on top of it all.

It is to be hoped that some good comes out of this, that out of every crisis there is an opportunity for improvment.

I never said it was partisan to want criminals to pay for their crimes.

No, you said "libs" wanted Fox to fail because they were being partisan, The truth is we want them to fail because they are criminals.

Whether or not the owner is an alleged criminal is irrelevant to liberals hatred of fox news.
