"Republicans' concerns about the entire agency, called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). They say its organization runs counter to the constitutional principles of checks and balances and argue it is “one of the least accountable and most powerful agencies in Washington.”

-----Of course it is. Anything agency created by other than Republicans is "unconstitutional".

If perhaps we would enforce things like Sarbanes/Oxley we wouldn't need an entire new agency to ignore the laws we already have.

I know Richard Cordray. he is a good man and a good Attorney General of Ohio. I voted for him and he was one of the few Democrats I have ever given a substantial contribution to because he was a far better candidate than RINO MIke Dewine. Cordray was a Marshall Scholar, and top of his class at U of chicago law school and I believe a supreme court clerk. Dewine went to a third rate law school and was a fourth rate senator. Yet, Cordray is closely aligned with the extremist first choice of Obama that the GOP rightly blocked

I agree with the last post that we don't need yet another bureaucracy and while its unfortunate that intelligent people who did a good job in their previous positions lose elections or are stonewalled that is politics. Two equally talented people-Miguel Estrada and Peter Keisler were stonewalled by dems purely on political grounds as was at least one Bush pick for UN ambassador. Cordray is a political animal and he knows how the game is played. From what I hear the quarrel is more with the agency rather than the man which is more rational than why Estrada and Keisler-both with ABA top ratings and almost unanimous support of the bar (and all four living former dem solicitor generals) were blocked by your party
