minorities get charged and convicted for hate-crimes against white people all the time.

this won't be the first or the last. folks who suggest the contrary, clearly have an agenda.

oh, and btw, motivation is ALWAYS a factor when decided what charges to file, and what punishment to give out. this is nothing new.

regardless of hate crime status, these people who beat and robbed him should be pursued vigorously. However, the hate crime part does require separate investigation. These 4 people will have to belong to a group that targets whites only in their crimes. Otherwise, it's just bunch of nasties who spills racial slurs during whatever crime they commit to any target they come across simply because they are in the majority.

Considering that is what he originally wrote without your misinterpretation I would guess that would be what he would want to own. Theplaydrive never wrote a damn thing about anyone not being able to own guns just the fact that it doesn't make you invisible. My apologies playdrive if I too misunderstand.

The guy appears to be a Goth, and was possibly dressed funny and had silly piercings. I bet that was part of the motivation for the attack.

That wasn't my point. I was simply highlighting the foolishness of the whole gun society crap I see often presented. "If that were me, and I had my *insert gun type here*, I would have killed them all!" But, in a society where everyone is carrying gun or could easily get a gun, there would be no situation where you are the only person with a gun. The bravado displayed is only contingent on the idea that the people you're up against is not armed as well.

So it sounds as if you're only for gun toting if it's only you with the firearm, but it all likelyhood, that wouldn't be case. So it's basically a fantasy.

And personally, I do not think more guns on the street is a good thing. Most beatdowns you can walk away from with minor cuts and bruises. Most gunfights, someone going to die or be terribly wounded. I'd prefer the latter.

It's not illegal to be racist. There's no reason a crime should be given a worse sentence just because it was motivated by racism, it's really a violation of the first amendment.

I'd rather have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it.

If I pull a gun when being attacked and someone else pulls one, then chances are they would have used it anyway so then it's a gun battle. If you're trained how to use a gun you could easily pop anyone who didn't put their hands up immediately when they see you pointing a gun at them. Let them run away, that's fine, but if they're staring down the barrel of a 9mm handgun and they continue to come at you, they are a threat to your life and need to be shot double tap, center mass. Then call the police to come get the body.

Thank god it was a man and he just got beaten...if he was a woman and had been raped the three of you would've had all of hells fury descend upon you for obviously hating women, wanting to "punish" them for being slutty, and blaming the victim. Thankfully it was a man and he just got pummeled by others so its perfectly allowable and kosher to point out he made bad choices. So I guess we're lucky.

The guys that did the beating should be prosecuted at the fullest extent of the law. That being said, that extent should not include hate crime legislation. Someone committing a crime against you because of your race makes it no more of some special super duper crime than for any other reason. At most, the fact it was racially motivated should come into play when determining the sentence within the paramaters of guidelines for the actual crime that was committed, but it absolutely should not be some extra bit lopped no top like hate crime legislation esentially does now.

Yea, it's the criminals who have guns. If New York allowed citizens to have guns, there would be a lot more dead criminals who had guns.

According to Bloomberg it is, unless you are a criminal, or a friend of the tyrant king, you can not have a gun.
