Rupert Murdoch's media empire seems to be crumbling before our very eyes.

LONDON — The British police on Sunday arrested Rebekah Brooks, the former head of Rupert Murdoch’s media operations in Britain, according to a former associate at News International, the newspaper group at the heart of a phone-hacking scandal convulsing the Murdoch empire, the British political elite and the police.

It's not crumbling by any means, but the stuff I'm learning about the British tabloid press and how influential Rupert Murdoch was on the highest levels of British government absolutely disgust me.

Do you think that level of duplicity does not exist between the American MSM and government? I think it does.

No, I don't. At least not yet.

What also disgusts me is the tacit acceptance on the part of the British public of these underhanded, sometimes criminal methods of getting stories by the tabloid press. I have somewhat of a journalism background, and some of the things that i've been reading are just so beyond the pale, they're such severe violations of journalistic ethics I'm having a hard time finding words to describe my anger.

Have only came onto this story late but am really at a loss why they would want to hack the phone of the girl's family. That is pathetic. I could somehow seeing the media whores hacking a policitican's phone but picking this suffering family is beyond me.

Their media group deserves full punishment.

I would point everyone to the job titles of many of the major players in this scandal:

Communications

Public Relations

Funny how often this profession turns up at the heart of some sneaky, underhanded, deceptive ****.

Just sayin'.:2wave:

Hugh Grant, the unlikely hero.

if anything comes of hackgate, i hope it is the average media consumer demanding news organizations become less tabloid and more ethical.

I hope thi fiasco doesn't affect the Simpsons.

Talk is that Homer's bumbling dummy persona is just an act. It is believed he was heavily involved in much of their illegal phone hacking. The show has kept much of Homer's personal life away from the press, they don't even reveal his real name.

Don't forget that Homer Simpson used to work at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant too. He is evil personified.
