Tea party to GOP: We could make 'examples' of you over debt ceiling

:lol::lol::lol:

Yeah, that's what I'm saying

So I guess you're of the opinion that compromise means one side gets what they want and the other side gets nothing. Though, if you're sticking to this week's GOP talking points I suppose you're going to say that the compromise is that the president gets his debt ceiling increase. That's what all of the usual suspects said last Sunday on the talk shows. I guess they forgot that the debt ceiling isn't the president's, it's the nation's, and the debt ceiling is a matter for congress not the president.

Anyway, reasonable people see that the president has been bending over backwards trying to deal with the GOP as they fold their arms and stomp their feet like little brats who can't get their way.

Like I said, good luck with that Cap and Balance crap that the house GOP wants to pass. It'll never happen. That doesn't mean that Dems want to shut down the gov't. That's just the way it goes sometimes. That's the way the legislative process works. Dems have control of the White House and the senate. It won't pass. But if you want to see who actually does want to shut down the gov't, look no further than this video:

I think it's funny just how obviously offensive you find the idea of a balanced budget. LOL

They are clueless? The Dems are clueless if they think the GOP should again accept the lies and dishonesty over the budget that they have perpetrated on Republicans by the Democrats. Personally, I am not sure that I want this tyrannical government anymore. We have to have change and the change needs to be a reversal of much of the past 78 years of the nanny state. If the Democrats want to block that change, then we might need to shut down the government. Hopefully, he will gain some type of common sense before the actual day of reckoning.

The ones that are clueless are the freaking Republicans. They are clueless as to what not raising the debt ceiling will do to the country, to the veterans, to the troops!

Shutting down the government isn't like shutting a door - people depending on their SS checks won't be getting them, our troops won't be getting paid (and recommendations offered by Bimbo Bachmann are akin to stopping a dam with bubble gum). But, as usual, the Republican/conservatives demonstrate that they don't care about anybody but themselves and being in charge. Well, too bad, Americans are too smart not to realize what Republicans/conservatives have done to this country and will not fall for their lies again.

I think it's funny how quickly you jump to conclusions. I don't support this legislation. That doesn't mean I don't support a balanced budget. It's basically a legislative version of what they're already doing - We get everything, you get nothing. That plus a balanced budget constitutional amendment that will only be used by the GOP as a constitutional reason to cut entitlements. No thanks. You can keep that piece of crap.

Hummmm, if entitlements programs are the antithesis of a balanced budget what does that say?

I didn't say they are, but that won't stop the GOP from making that argument.

No, the dems have offered compromise, while the republitards have acted as though the ought to have everything their own way, and refused to compromise. Any shutdown under these conditions will be rightly laid at the feet of republicans.

No, the Dems are lying again. They have previously lied twice on this very same subject and even with the same dollar "compromise." While I told Sangha that I would rather be dumb that dishonest, I would rather be smart and honest. The GOP should not back down to the lies of the Dems.

Sorry, but you need to tell me something worthwhile and not just your silly babble.

Yeah, you did. If a balanced budget means your precious programs (such as cowboy poetry reading) are jeopardized, better to bankrupt the nation, huh?

LOL, I'm totally imagining a little kid playing that annoying game of parroting everything somebody says. Of course you're a Dem, that should be pretty much be second nature to you.

Ummm no I didn't. You just hear everything through that filter because you're a partisan hack. You said entitlements are the antithesis to a balanced budget. I didn't say that. And nothing that I said can be stretched to even remotely resemble that. If all you're going to do is misrepresent what I say, then just don't talk to me. By the way, I'm not sure what your stupid little cowboy poetry remark has to do with entitlements or this argument.

I'm imagining you're some bitter old man, clueless and partisan to the core. That's pretty much it. Go sit and spin somewhere. That's about all you're worth.

Bring it downstairs, big guy. Enjoy your ding up here cause you'd get worse down there.

How could they get as far as they got, and remain SO freakin clueless?

Why should Tea Party cater to the usual political compromises that got us into this position in the first place? The Republicans have fought any thought of reasonable tax increases and the Democrats have fought any reasonable spending cuts over many years. And their answer is to run the government is to follow along the same path? The time for borrowing more money 'til next time is over.

And I care what you have to say, why? How about you go post some crap somewhere else instead of sticking your nose in my business..big guy.

The GOP is committing suicide if it thinks that not raising the debt ceiling is going to reflect poorly on the Dems, instead of them! Most people are aware that the ball is in their court, and they will be held responsible if the country goes into crisis because of their foolishness.

The problem is that most tea party conservatives don't understand what will happen to the country if the debt ceiling is not raised. They are under the impression that it is good for the country - when the extreme opposite is true. Not raising the ceiling is not going to lower the deficit or the debt - it will keep the military from receiving their pay, it will keep many that depend on their SS checks from getting paid. Does the GOP want to take credit for that? Does the Tea Party?

I have posted several times about the lies of the 80s and 90s where a Republican President agreed to a tax increase in exchange for what the Democrats agreed to which was $3 of expenditure cuts for each $1 of tax increase. The taxes increased and the expenditures were never cut as agreed to.

The Republicans have passed more than one debt ceiling bill in the House and the Dems, as usual, are obstructionist and won't support the bills. That puts the ball squarely in the Dems court and they cannot even come up with a program. The only real program the President has offered was voted down 0-97 in the Senate.

Good grief, I thought you were talking about the Democrats in Congress now.

Who cares what was done years ago - we're talking about now, and if the Reps don't agree on raising the debt ceiling, we're all in trouble.

Excuse me, the Republicans won't accept anything that even suggests at raising taxes on the wealthy, who can afford it, but insist in cutting benefits from the middle class and below, who can least afford it. What ingnoramus that is not wealthy supports that action? Why would Democrats go against what the majority of Americans want, and that is to leave Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid alone?

The President's bill, as well as the Democrat's bill is not accepted by the Reps because they suggest ending the tax cuts for the wealthy, and the Reps are afraid of Nordquist. I don't know what Nordquist has done to get them all in line with his wishes, but talk about Sheeple.

How is not paying your bills "getting your fiscal house in order"?

Doing balance transfers, and or paying off your household finances by increasing your credit is not a sound plan is it? Is that what you do YS? Nope, what sane people do is prioritize. They do without, not more of.

Ya know, I wonder how we can quantify 40 years of liberal's teaching our students, and not knowing the simple axiom above, is proof positive that we're doomed...

Unfreaking believeable the level of insane attitudes coming from the left these days?? Stay away from the NYT, and the alphabet networks.. You're not getting the straight dope.. All your getting is dope!
