Try to find the journal where prayer helped someone else.

    Depression and Meditation

Prayer and meditation can augment both serotonin and dopamine production and your optimistic center. It turns on the vagal system, the optimistic center and suppresses the pessimistic center and the sympathetic nervous system- reversing a downward trend. The same is true about negative thought, such as anger and uncontrolled stress. This turns on cortisol and the pessimistic center that cause further deterioration leading to depression and sleeplessness.

Pretty basic. Do you sleep and do better when you have something bothering you or after you've dealt with it?

NOT what I said at all. He was talking about "warm and fuzzies" gotten from a hug..... and stated that those from prayer are different.

yes, I'd like to see a scientific journal that says there's a chemical reaction that gives you the warm and fuzzy feeling when one prays.

Other than that, prayer is still illogical when you ask for a certain outcome.

But of course for as many people, journals, medical studies, that say it does work, just as many say it doesnt. I think its more of a personal belief than anything else... If you believe that prayer makes you feel better about whatever, it generally does. Mind over matter kinda thing. If you dont believe it.... its not gonna make any difference to you anyway. (still looking madman... found other stuff in medical journals, but not what I originally heard... of course, i suck at lookin for stuff online, so take that for what its worth)

Didn't you know Jesus is on the mainline, just call him up and tell him what you want!

theres nothing really wrong with asking people to pray for rain, its just a typical stupid over the top christian conservative (borderline offensive) thing to say. nothing surprising here.

Re: Gov. urges Oklahomans to pray for rain

I see prayer as a way for people to focus on the important things in their day and life. I don't focus with prayer, but it seems kinda like writing a journal or preparing for ours and other's challenges. I don't think it contacts anyone, so to speak; however, collective will and focus can have impacts on events. I used to mock it but now I look for the good in it, even if I don't do it myself.

Re: Gov. urges Oklahomans to pray for rain

Ok tired of looking. Heres a couple in medical journals i think. (which really proves or disproves nothing, because for every study you find that says it works, there are just as many that say it doesnt... it all basically comes down to personal opinion)

    http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/...n11101_fm.html

Doctors increasingly find introducing prayer helps calm patients and speeds recovery

If you dont believe in prayer, it does nothing for you or anyone else. If you do, prayer does give you a sense of the warm and fuzzies, of feeling better, or feeling more peaceful... this i say from personal experience and nothing else.
