China: U.S. Spends Too Much on Military

The metallurgy of an M-1 is classified. Perhaps he served in the U.S. military and is currently disclosing classified information? In which case, the staff would be obligated to report his ass to the FBI. Just sayin'.

Well since he's from southern Ontario I doubt he's part of the US military and furthermore the depleted uranium thing has been common knowledge for a good while.

I'm betting what's classified is the way the armor is made, since it's a fusion of metals and the way that fusion is in terms of consistency. Then again you know this I'm assuming.

But I'm pretty certain if I said a tank had steel in it, thats not leaking classified information.

You think that Canada didn't get a few M-1's in those foreign aid packages ya'll received from us? What if he has dual citizenship and served in the U.S. military? What if he is just a spy shooting off his mouth?

There has ALWAYS been waste in every level of spending regardless of who the administration has been. The military is not immune to it.

Hmmmm I don't recall saying there wasn't waste.

ummm, I'm pretty sure that Wiki is not a repository of classified info

in fact I do know this. When China builds a "highway" through a mountain in the middle of nowhere that is 16 lanes wide, and bent at the entrances with bomb traps, and is near no large population center except a tank division? that's not a highway for Farmer Xiao to drive his mule to the field - that's a tunnel to protect/hide a tank column. but it's just them building a road, so it's 'civilian infrastructure'. When China goes "mining for iron ore" in a place that has no iron ore, and we see them pouring 7,000 psi concrete burster slabs on top of the "mine"? That's not a mine, that's a bunker. But it's a mine so it goes under "mining" rather than military expenditures. and that's just two of the more obvious examples.
Where are your links and photos to prove all of this. You sound like someone trying to prove the existence of god with no proof whatever. There have to be links articles or something. Or does all this information come to you in visions while you sleep.

cpwill I am curious what you think about my previous point. I understand totally what you are saying about China being a bunch of sneaky no good bastards. Trust me, I am 100% with you on that one, but does that mean we got to overspend when we could save and get the same product?
So you don't trust China, do you think they trust the US?

Two problems with that.

We don't have any M1's.

An I'm not old enough to serve.

So, looks like our Chinese "friends" agree with the left.

**** - my husband feels that way and he's IN the military and a Republican.

I don't know why you think it's a 'left only' sentiment.

I have to applaud the liberal left …. cutting costs ….. a very strange stance for them to take … I would expect them to just say increase our spending .. and tax the rich evil bastards for it, just like they do with everything else.

Now if we could get those liberal leftists to hold onto that thought … when discussing other things we might actually make some progress....... but alas …. we know .. when it comes to liberal thinking .. there are no other cuts to be made .. our military is the only thing in our country we have wasteful spending on .. and spend to much money on …. All our other welfare and social programs need to be “INVESTED” ( the new term for spending that has been adopted by the left) more in .. and paid for by those evil rich bastards ..

The left doesn't support spending cuts. Obama does.

I think that you're missing the larger more important point here--the American Left is not to be trusted any more than the sneaky Chinese. Further, since they are mentioned in the same paragraph, they may be in league with one another.
All this other stuff about all of the other people who also think that our military spending could stand to lose a few pounds, just shows that people aren't really getting the point of the OP.

Really?

no, actually, it comes to me at work.

sheeez ... could have fooled me ... it seems here .. . that nearly every leftist posting .. is supporting spending cuts to the military ... or is it just Obama posting under various names ???

Cutting the military is not the same as cutting spending.

Try again

where we could save and get the same product we should. you could save alot of DOD money by altering the structures of how we pay for things such as healthcare. but you still need a carrier fleet and you still need stealth bombers and you still need sattelites and you still need MOP development.

What are you getting at?
As much as you don't trust the Chinese they don't trust you. It was a response to a statement someone made. Do you really believe that the US is fully trusted by any nation in the world with the recent track record of nation building?

in fact they are quite sure they will face off against us, and are preparing for precisely that.

 well, given our track record recently with our "allies" (sorry, Britain), probably not. In Kissinger's words, the US is a dangerous enemy, but a deadly friend.

Quite frankly, yes...I believe the world trusts the US. Bush was pretty transparent and adamant about his actions. There was little question as to his intent, whther you liked him or not. And you of course know that world leaders and intel groups have on big boy and girl pants when it comes to global relationships. We the average citizen see these very limited surface actions and behaviros and we usually see them through our ideological filters (example-Bush evil for taking out a brutal dictator quick, fast, and in a hurry/Obama-benevolent leader deserving of his Nobel prive for ineffectively entering a prolonged war to oust a kinda bad dictator).

Would the Chinese be fools not to be prepared. No they would not. Nor would anyone else for that matter. Nations prepare a defense for a reason.

A President should not just decide to take out some leader he does not care for no matter what excuse he uses. Obama IMO should give the prize back. He continued and continues wars that he had the power to end. Now he is involved in his own skirmish. The actions of the US have not been all that great as of late. I believe that the allies trust the US as much as the US trusts them. The rest of the world sees nothing but liars and do not trust the US a all. Rather than being seen as the solution to world problems I think the US is now seen as the cause of them. My opinion.
