The U.S. spends 4.7% of its GDP on military, whereas China spends less than half that.
I don't see what this has to do with the American left. Even fiscal conservatives in the U.S. are calling on a reduction in military spending, along with entitlement programs. Our military budget is bloated and needs trimming. It has been a sacred cow for too long, spanning at least four administrations. It needs to suffer cuts, period.
