You know what I don't blame Washington, I blame us. This partisan crap has to end or this country will fail. Republicans...everyone does not share your values. Democrats...Everyone does not share your values. We have to co-exist if we are to remain a great country. How patriotic are you if we are hoping for the president demise in order to put your candidate in the white house no matter what the cost is? Hell even Reagan compromise with the democrats.

And by the way, both parties share responsibility for these numbers. Please name one job bill or ideal that the republicans have place on the table that would put Americans to work right now. All I seen is jobs being loss due to spending cuts . Just look at all the public job being loss. Boehner himself said that if jobs are lost due to spending cuts then so be it.
I bet you weren't saying that when the fabricated recession got Obama elected.

“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

That is 80 million new taxpayers vs. the 1.4 million that the liberals want to tax more(the rich)

Look … I don't want to get into this too deeply with you … but please .. lets be realistic about some things … . right now we have a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit … we can all agree on that .. right ? We can also all agree that we have a debt of someplace around 14 trillion dollars … right ?

Now please just for a moment .. forget pointing fingers .. just look at the numbers … do you realistically think it's possible to cut 1.5 trillion dollars from our spending in a single swoop ??? IMO that was what was done with the health care bill, and most can agree how that turned out .. We need to cut spending .. you and I agree fully on that .. but at the same time we need to take the time to get first the waste, then revise and fix the programs that are broken. Cut but cut as “wisely” as we can … and real.. honest cuts .. not just paper shuffling.

As I said when that is done and shown that the people (on both sides ) are serious about cutting .. then and only then will I be in favor of tax increases … across the board … like letting ALL the Bush tax cuts expire .. for every one ..

Now again .. in all fairness .. Business and people did quite well after the tax increase while Clinton was in office .. Bush cut the tax in an effort to jump start the economy after the dot com bubble broke, and for all practical purposes it did what it was intended to do .. But today we are in a completely different situation, the recession is much bigger, our debt is just plain crazy... Forget who's fault it is …. and realize where we are .. does it matter who is at fault in reality … because no matter who is at fault .. this is where we are … and we need to be fixing the problem.

Now one last point . The 14 trillion dollar debt … if we get to a balanced budget … that does nothing to reduce our debt …the interest on that debt is killing, even if we were to get to a 500 billion dollar surplus we are looking at 30 years to pay it off .. thats 2042 if we get to that surplus next year.

We need everything … we need jobs to help us, we need reduced spending to help us .. and IMO we need a very moderate tax increase right across the board to help us … then if were are lucky by the grace of God we might have a chance to pull out of this tail spin we are in.

Because they are in charge and have been since the beginning of this economic turndown.

Leaving Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya would cover most of that alone. I think we could withstand that.

Let's put a tax on trades. I'd be all for that. It makes the most sense to tax those who made the mess in the first place.

The last president to have net private sector job gains when he left office was Clinton at 22 million new jobs.

Which is my point, both the hard core Republicans and they the hard core Democrats are trying to polish a turd here. The Republicans want everyone to ignore the fact that their guy sucked worse than Carter did with the economy, and the Democrats don't seem to want to recognize that at this point, it is Obama's economy.
Sorry but that is a lie, Bush still had a net job gain in his 8 years

It was a real recession. Obama did inherit a crappy economy. The point is that it's still a crappy economy almost 3 years later.
