NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Exxon Mobil(XOM_) hastened to clean up tens of thousands of gallons of oil on Tuesday that burst into the Yellowstone River from one of its ruptured pipelines in Laurel, Mont.

The pipeline, which runs from Silver Tip, Mont. to Billings, Mont., failed on Saturday. Exxon shut down the pipe in seven minutes after pressure loss was discovered and it isolated the segment where the oil spewed.......
Another spill in the states, I am hearing little tidbits of information. Maybe the DP members can make heads or tails of this event.

I just feel really really bad for the lives(wildlife and/or human)that rely on this source of water.

    Peace.

PS: Feel free to post any other links to news etc related to this event and I ty.

Exxon oil spill in Mont. river prompts evacuations - Yahoo! News

A 600-foot-long black smear of oil coated Jim Swanson's riverfront property just downstream from where the pipe broke.

"Whosever pipeline it is better be knocking on my door soon and explaining how they're going to clean it up," Swanson said as globules of oil bubbled to the surface. "They say they've got it capped off. I'm not so sure."

ExxonMobil spokeswoman Pam Malek said the pipe leaked an estimated 750 to 1,000 barrels of oil for about a half-hour before it was shut down. Other Exxon officials had estimated up to 42,000 gallons of crude oil escaped.

Re: Exxon Oil Spill in Montana

This points out the need for more intelligent people to be in charge at the top of our dysfunctional Government.

We could have done away with use of oil long ago had the people in charge not been in the pockets of big oil.

We have allowed environmentally ill idiots to stall breakthroughs in technology and drive up the cost of such things as electric cars that could have solved a lot of problems long ago.

I really liked Ronald Reagan but he removed the solar power panels Carter put on the White House and that didn't help things at all.

Now we have people claiming that some bug or lizard is threatened by solar cells in the desert which is a load.
