"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)
LOL!! Not meaning to offend. I don't like Obama. I do give him credit sometimes. He tried to stop the Gaza flotilla. I give him credit for that. Things like this, though, coming from Obama, seem empty to me. He has done harmful things to the military, and still is... seems like a gesture to me, but okay-- good for Obama..
I've never been able to understand why a Republican contributor is a 'fat cat' and a Democratic contributor of the same amount of money is a 'public-spirited philanthropist'.
The ghost of Jack Kevorkian for President's Physician: 2016
OBL was indeed brought down on his watch - but the groundwork was laid in prior to his watch. the logic on "blame" v "credit" seems confused when comparing that used for the OBL raid v. say, the recession.
as for the BBQ - I agree that This Is The Sort Of Thing The President Is Supposed To Do, but still, he's supposed to do this kind of thing because it's a good thing to do, and good on him for doing it.
“If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures.”
- Alexander Hamilton. Spiritual father of #NeverTrump
Whether or not its the thing a "President is supposed to do" its not something they have to do. I'm sure the soldiers attending have little care if it was "what they do" or not, and were more thrilled by the honor and the oppertunity. It likely gave our soldiers a memorable event, and that alone is worthy of praise.
"I am appalled that somebody who is the nominee...would take that kind of position"
"A court took away a presidency"
"...the brother of a man running for president was the governor of the state..."
It's horrifying because Trump is blunt instead of making overt implications.
