If someone wants to carry it to term, I think it should be criminalized.
The social and financial costs of a child born from negligent behavior of the mother/father should definitely be criminal.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

Re: rat poison. Shouldn't intent count for something? She intended to kill herself. I think she has to be a bit off her pins (as so thoroughly stated by MisstressNomad) to even do such a thing. I don't think the presence of a fetus played any part in her decision.

But isn't it already, as I posted before .. if you drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol and end up taking a life in an accident you will be charged with taking that life .. now will it be a life sentence..... think that would depend .. plow into a bunch of 3rd graders and kill a few of them .. and I would think the chances are good it might be

I guess it's just what you believe .. I happen to beleive anyone that kills another person is crazy ... but I don't believe that excuses it

Actually when pregnant women try to kill themselves over a love quarrel, the death of the child is very often a major driving factor in the decision process. Again, your belief that people can/will only do terrible things if they are mentally ill isn’t valid.

Some people are evil, some angry and vengeful, some depressed, some have just had pain (phys. or emotion), some are misdirected and others are just crying out for attention.

The problem with your contention that suicide must be a mental illness is the methods used to derive such conclusions. If we follow your reasoning out to its logical conclusions, everyone must me mentally ill when they do something hateful or stupid (see above) etc.

It's a stretch but I don't think of it as bad, as being presented by the OP.
She may have originally wanted to be pregnant, but lost hope when the person she trusted bailed on her. She shouldn't be punished for that.

On the other hand, I also can't wait until we have sterilization by default.

I think I'm on my way to becoming a good fascist lol.
Who gets sterilized, and who decides? I hope you're not serious.

    How should she be punished?

Registered Republicans and Democrats should be sterilized and GOD is the one who decided. He told me last night before I passed out from drinking too much.

In that case, you will need to apply for a reproductive rights permit at the third window on the left. Please go to the end of the line and have your checkbook ready.
