Re: Strauss-Kahn Case Seen as in Jeopardy

According to the two officials, the woman had a phone conversation with an incarcerated man within a day of her encounter with Mr. Strauss-Kahn in which she discussed the possible benefits of pursuing the charges against him. The conversation was recorded.

That man, the investigators learned, had been arrested on charges of possessing 400 pounds of marijuana. He is among a number of individuals who made multiple cash deposits, totaling around $100,000, into the woman’s bank account over the last two years. The deposits were made in Arizona, Georgia, New York and Pennsylvania.
In addition, one of the officials said, she told investigators that her application for asylum included mention of a previous rape, but there was no such account in the application. She also told them that she had been subjected to genital mutilation, but her account to the investigators differed from what was contained in the asylum application.

Yeah, I would have a hard time believing her as well.

As for her-- yes, she can be deported if it turns out she is involved in criminal activity or lied to get her Visa..

Just for reference, I mean at this point in time she cannot be. That U Visa is a very serious thing though. Those aren't given out and taken away with ease.

What a scam.. all you do is say you were blahblahblah, and you are safe... the more I know the more I know I don't know much. Load of BS if you ask me. THIS will be my "education" of the day, no doubt.

And how many here were ready to hang this dude from the nearest rafter?

Now what can't be undone is the permanent damage to his name and reputation, as he will forever be the "IMF guy who was accused of sexual assault."

I've said it before and I will say it again, prosecutors who prosecute sex crime cases that are found not guilty should be eligible to be sued by the defendant for defamation of character.

No problem... a lot of people don't know what a U visa is, and in my experience they are never really abused like that. There has to be some merit to your case to be issued one, and it requires that you work with law enforcement to pursue whatever crime you were a victim of.

BUT-- this lady's claim on her app is under question.. so how tough is it?? Plus.. she is living is HIV/AIDS housing? What is the deal with that? SO-- let me see... did she say she was raped elsewhere, genital mutilation I read... was let in, housed in a sublet HIV housing complex, has a decent job, then some rich guy rapes her, and now she is being questioned about how she got here?? Explain that one. Real mess, if you ask me, and seems like this rape case has opened up a whole can of worms.
IF he did it, I hope he goes down. IF he didn't, I hope we get a deep look inside "immigration" policy, especially since it seems clear here this woman is involved on some bad stuff. 6 cell phones.. unreported?? $100,000 in her account, transferred from all over the USA?? What maid has that in her life??
Sorry, but this whole case stinks.

It does stink. I thought it stunk from the beginning. I had a big feeling this case was bull**** from the beginning. Like I said earlier, French politics are very, very rough. For a U Visa, what bad stuff she was involved with really doesn't matter. The fact that she was a victim of a crime would allow her to get that U Visa. For example, if a woman was raped, and she had been looked at in the past for possession of heroin, that woman will still get the U visa.

Seriously?? So some really bad people can gain entrance to the country because they were raped? Wow.. learn something every day. I live in AZ, and am pretty (very) anti- illegal immigration oriented, now I find another loophole in the law, and this one is LEGAL. Geez.. discouraging to me..

No, they can't gain entrance. It's not like if you were raped in Mexico, you can get a U visa to come here. It's for illegals who were victims of crimes in the US, so they can work with law enforcement legally to pursue their attacker.

Was there any point to this post? :P Really. You wanted to compliment another poster for a thoughtful post, but, realising it was 86% less filled with vitriol and hate than most of the rest of your posts, you felt it necessary to inject some meaningless, irrelevant conjecture about your hatred of "Eurosocialists"?
