God, for lame. I still and will always believe that legalizing marijuana could do a world of good for our budget.

Shame on Obama....
Just more disappointments.
Oh well what can you expect from a Democratic presidents that promises a **** ton?

I knew it was a trap. You just can’t trust this administration on anything can you?

Jesus, seriously? What possible good can come of this? Name a single positive effect this could have.

It will make a lot of bible thumping Republicans happy?

It won’t increase tax revenues but it will cost states and local governments more tax revenue and will cost more to enforce.

Just a lame thing to do.

It wouldn't do jack for our budget. Primarily, because we're in the middle of a depression and no one has any money to spend on pot.

Lol, you'd be surprised. The help from the budget would come from a massive reduction in the crime budget, though.

People can still afford cigarettes? Alcohol? They can afford weed.

And yet they still spend more on it than they do any other crop.

I could understand this if there was someone who could possibly believe there was some truth to all the anti-Pot propaganda from the 30s and then later claims that is is a gateway drug.

Obama knows all this to be bogus because he was a regular Pot smoker, he was also a user of Coke and those were his own words.

This had to be a political decision to somehow garner votes from some place.

I don't get it.

I am a life long Conservative but in my youth I did my share of puffing away, and never did any of the other drugs of the 60s, and I was there.

Hell I was in Haight-Ashbury twice in the summer of love 1967 and at that time had never had a puff, in fact most Hippies thought I was a narc because of the whole short hair clean cut thing. I quit many years ago with no addiction issues so I know that's bogus too. I have had trouble with Winstons though.

Obama would have fit into the Haight quite well.
It's to take aim politically on Obama's time in office as a lying hypocrite.

Well it's about time! Weed is a very crippling drug, once you get off it and get rid of all your friends that use it, you will grow!

I am very disappointing by this. However I am not so sure legalizing pot would end the war on weed. From the few considered state proposals I have seen the states wanted to tax it heavily ($250-450 per ounce) meaning many persons would still grow and distribute at a much cheaper rate. We would still have a strong black market demand. The Fed would still be busting people for avoiding taxes much like the moonshiners of old.

Obama Administration Overrides 2009 Ogden Memo, Declares Open Season on Pot Shops in States Where Medical Marijuana Is Legal - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

The Department of Justice sent out a memo Wednesday instructing the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration and leading officials in the U.S. Attorneys Office to treat medical marijuana shops as top priorities for prosecutors and drug investigators.

:(

This sucks man.

Maybe if Obama lit up, he wouldn't be so stressed.

So much for states rights.

Imagine if Obama legalizes pot tomorrow. Most of FOX News would rape him on a 24/7 basis.

Obama's just trying to grab the few Conservative votes he might have a shot at taking, it's pathetic.

I love it when people think legalizing pot is going to save the economy and/or our country. I don't care if you want to smoke it, and I think we are a bit harsh with it at times but its not like legalizing pot and gay marriage are going to get this country back on track.

depressing if true.

pot should be legal; the federal government should waste zero dollars fighting it. easy way to cut the budget and increase revenue, also.

I'm not sure that anyone has been arguing that, but people should be able to choose what they put in their own bodies.

This country doesn't give two ****s about education, so keeping marijuana illegal because of its supposed anti-economical advancement effects is a pile of ****.
