Re: Obama Hammers Congress: Do Your Job

If Obama was serious about dealing with the debt issue he would drop the demands for increased taxes and simply promise to let the Bush tax cuts expire while making serious cuts today.

When he signed the extension of the tax cuts, he said he wouldn’t renew them and promised to campaign on tax hikes in 2012. He should stick to that plan.

His blabbering about ending “oil subsidies” is as disingenuous as his “not war” in Libya, his cryptic “cut spending in the tax code” phrase for raising taxes and his attempts to insinuate that Republicans are trying to give private jet owners tax breaks at the expense of college students and food safety.

You see, oil companies don’t get subsidies, they get the same kinds of tax write offs as all the other manufacturing industries out there. As for the private jet tax write off, that was a bill that Obama signed into law after zero Republicans voted for it.

Don’t get me wrong, I think we will need to raise taxes (hopefully restructuring the tax code at the same time) and make deep spending cuts which must include entitlements, if we are going to avoid an economic meltdown in this nation.

that's funny coming from the clown who has had what-29 FUND RAISERS in the last few months and is going to places like Africa when there is work to be done.

His demogaugery is at full throttle right now-his moronic rants about the "uber rich" (Ie anyone making more than 200K a year) still being able to afford a jet is just priceless.

This clown is a two bit assclown who was not ready to be president and apparently has learned very little while in office

This president gave private jet purchasers a big fat tax break in appeasement for his "feets" in mouth slamming of Los Vegas. To stimulate the airline industry you know.

that clown is so full of it is no longer amusing. He whines about the rich when his scheme is to make his dem buddies tons of money. He whines about hedge fund managers when they are the very people who bankrolled this empty suit's elections. Goldman-Sux gave that clown 1 million dollars or so

Yeah, this coming from the guy who appoints a debt commission only to ignore said commission and then appoint a new commission 6 months later. He’s such a goat’s ass sometimes.

But he makes up cool new terms like “cut spending in the tax code” and “kinetic military operation” so he must be smart right?

cutting spending in the tax code isn't a new term bro, nor is it cryptic. and it's something people on both sides are talking about. And it's not just oil subsidies.

Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

I will defer to John Stewart on this: LINK (watch from the 4:00 mark on)

I also like "overseas contingency operation". He is such a great communicator.
