I think Mr. Cain is being way too charitable to Stewart because there is no doubt as I see it that this was totally Racist.

If a Conservative were to do this about a Liberal Black Candidate the scatology would hit the fan but quick.

The Stewart clip comes at about 5 Min. 25 Sec. into the video you will find if you follow the link.

I actually liked everything Mr. Cain had to say except for his comments about Stewart, he makes a great deal of sense.

Cain: Stewart Impression Shows 'Problem' With Black Conservatives, But Not Racist - FoxNews.com
Published June 28, 2011

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Tuesday he doesn't think Jon Stewart's recent impression of him was racist, but accused the comedian of singling him out because he is a "black conservative."

Cain was responding to a bit Stewart did on "The Daily Show" poking fun at the candidate's recent comments that he would only allow "small bills, three pages" if elected.

"If I am president, treaties will have to fit on the back of a cereal box. From now on, the State of the Union address will be delivered in the form of a fortune cookie," Stewart joked, trying to mimic Cain's voice. "I am Herman Cain, and I do not like to read!"

they tend to be a bit possessive about their hypocrisy ;)

i find that the most bitching, and dismissing, about "the race card" comes from republicans. so i do love it when you guys whine, as oscar says, like crybabies.

I've been listening to Herman on the radio for years, love the guy. He's not perfect-- who is??? I could definitely vote for him without holding my nose. He tells it like it is, quick mind, quick words, does not need a script. Hey, that gets him in some hot water every now and then, but he usually has reasonable explanations for what he says, if people will listen to him. I would FAR rather have a person that speaks from the heart, and from conviction, than one who needs a script to talk, and changes when the wind blows. Cain doesn't lie, and he doesn't try to make people like him. He is what he is, and I find that a breath of fresh air. GO, Herman!! As far as black conservatives... many liberals don't even seem to recognize their existence, according to the amount of news coverage Cain gets, even though he came in 3rd to Romney and Bachmann in current polls. Very telling... he is doing a fine job for a man with little name recognition outside of his radio listeners. Cain 2012 is okay with me.

Its true, from my experience, Conservatives tend to bring up race much more than liberals. However, when I see race brought up, its in a sort of pre-defense mode.

The reason we get pissed is because Liberals are always crying Racist because they lack the mental acuity to deal with facts, the truth or stay on topic.

I stopped watching Stewart right after he took over the show because I don't think he's funny.

that's because most of the "race card" playing comes from democrats. you don't seriously think that democrats would bitch about other democrats playing the race card?

it's like saying "I find that the most bitching about "homophobia" comes from gays.

it's a knee-jerk defense mechanism. instilled by decades of accusations of being racist.

So a good defense is to, purposefully and dishonestly attempt to smear those who hold different beliefs? Where is the goodness in that?

Notice how you do not deny that you accept that behavior from Liberals?

Did any conservative ever say 'Oh, by the way... he's black!' like Obama claimed they would during the election? Did any conservative ever say 'He doesn't look like the other Presidents on those dollars', like Obama claimed they would?

Face it. Liberals play the race card way more than conservatives do... especially if a conservative dares to say something negative about Obama himself or one of his decisions or policies.

i judge each instance on it's own merit, and i think it's pretty damned funny that those of you who deny that foodstamps with watermelon and obama's picture are not racist, but insist that mimicking a man who joked about making bills 3 pages long is racist. stewart might have gone too far, but i don't think that was his intent. frequently, it IS the intent of obama bashers, and i suspect you know this.

that most certainly is racist.

What Stewart said wasn't racist, it was funny.

Notice how you do not deny that you rationalize, defend, and justify that behavior from Liberals?

editted for added accuracy and clarity ;)

Eh, it's exaggerating the need for catching up for 30 years of exaggeration on the part of the extreme-left.

Conservatives are at times over doing it, but on the whole, everyone is doing it.

You as a Liberal would know much better than i because you have the experience doing just that.

Stating facts is a far cry from smearing but then you're obfuscating.

FYI obfuscating is defined as: 1. to confuse, bewilder, or stupefy. 2. to make obscure or unclear: to obfuscate a problem with extraneous information.

Now you know what you were doing is called.

I doubt that Jon Stewart was being racist, however, what this brings up in my mind is the problem of race relations in this country. We have horrible race relations IMO, due to many people white America not wanting to talk about what occurred and wanting to ignore the past as well as the present-day effects that slavery and racial discrimination has had on black America. Also the fact that there are some black Americans who construe everything as racist. Add this to a government that was built on classism and racism, even going to far as to play a major role in the near-extermination of the indigenous population, and you've got yourself a prime situation for bad race relations in a country.
