Report: Hugo Chávez in Critical Condition In Cuban Hospital

I wouldn't shed a tear if he died. It'd be nice to see a more level-headed member of the Venezuelan left take over, especially considering that most of Chavez' successes have been because of high oil prices.

Why? They're all rich countries, and with the exception of the first two, have small populations, providing healthcare is much easier with a small population than a large one.

You see that, Australia sucks. You guys had better get with the program, or you'll continue to lose out on the business of dictators.

So you're saying it doesnt matter if the articles are neutral or not but that simply they may not appeal to your confirmation bias as far as I can gather. If you don't want to play then stop posting.

I'll be sure and quote this the next time you rag on Fox News.

Chavez is a typical dictator that loves to hear himself speak and assumes everyone is enthralled with himself as he is. His weekly takeover of the state controlled tv stationsfor 6+ hours proves that.

Venezuela could be a great country, but won't be until he is six feet under.

This cat can't be bagged, bro. Your assumptions I think Chavéz is some sort of Venezuelan Ghandi are wildly misplaced and wither meant to be insulting or some sort of calling out (which is kindof strange and funny of you). Debate or issue a baseless insult so I can report you. Do something, don't dither and waste my time as you have been so far.

If you think I'm wasting your time, stop responding.

See how simple that is.

Chavez going for that high quality Cuban healthcare. I'm sure libs everywhere are holding vigils over Chavez's plight. Danny Glover must be in a tatter over this.

"Pelvic abscess" sounds like a symptom of some terrible STD...

I'll be sure and quote this the next time you rag on Fox News.

I think I can pretty much rag on Fox and get away with it. Colloquially, intellectually, pretty much on every level.

Chavez is a typical dictator
Typically elected repeatedly, democratically.

that loves to hear himself speak and assumes everyone is enthralled with himself as he is.

Yes, yes, we get you hate him on a personal level.

His weekly takeover of the state controlled tv stationsfor 6+ hours proves that.

Ooh 'takeover' thats pretty dramatic.

Venezuela could be a great country, but won't be until he is six feet under.

:lamo: I think your putting down the complexities of having a rentier oil economy and resource rich nation. Supplying the poor with education, housing, and dignity can't really make it out into any measure of success. The ultimate fly in your soup is his democratic re-election witch will debunk all your claims of any monstrous dictatorship by him. Lately some buzz has been going around about increasing awareness of the domestic terror of the right wing regime that were around when 'things were good' with thousands dissapeared and tortured.

If you think I'm wasting your time, stop responding.

And give you some twisted satisfaction that confirms whatever twisted beliefs you have, no thanks.

See how simple that is.

I think my ignore button may be simpler sometime. Nice not debating in any way with you.

Good to see you still are a strong believer in hypocrisy.
Typically elected repeatedly, democratically.

Yep, so was Saddam Hussein.

I agree in many ways but who could keep the movement cohesive? I see nothing wrong with using oil wealth to fund projects for the poor for the time being. Something more sustainable may develop which would be good. I don't see Chavez as not being level headed but not tactful enough in his speech. He stirs up more trouble than does him good when he gets telegraphed into north American television.

I'm not sure. Maybe I can find some studies. Fox news does supply Comedy central with all its hottest content, so I may not have to.

Yep, so was Saddam Hussein.

Theyre not comparable in any remote way but... Wow you keep the convo classy...

Really?? They are both dictators that jail those that oppose them and take over industries to enrich themselves.

Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb.

I never said I saw anything wrong with it. It's more so a continuation of a conversation we've already had -- that most of Chavez' success is tied into oil, and using it to continue programs that existed before the revolution.

I don't know who could keep the "movement" cohesive. Carlos Mata Figueroa would be my best guess.

Chavez enriches himself with the nations wealth? That'd be a scandal if you could ever prove it in any way. Or at least tabloid material. Do you just type to see what you posted or do you actually debate anything with any integrity or facts or evidence. You know... debate. That's a grandmother's conspiracy in Venezuela.

Have you not read anything about the history of Chavez since he came to power??? Obviously not.

He is the most corrupt leader in the western hemisphere.
He jails those that disagree with him or oppose him.
He attempts to buy leaders of other South American countries.
He shuts down or takes over all media in the country that dares to state anything he does in wrong.
Crime has sky rocketed under Chavez.

on and on and on and on...........

I don't care at all if he dies, and I wonder if that will break his missile deal with Iran?? We can hope.

Not sure what the CEPR has to do with the group I was talking about, but the CEPR is definitely very progressive.

When SE102 stated this

The Chávez Administration at 10 Years: The Economy and Social Indicators | venezuelanalysis.com

There's a center for economic policy research link in there.

and you just shrugged it off as "pro chavez" and any facts in the study as just "false" and "biased"...

Have you not read anything about the history of Chavez since he came to power??? Obviously not.
It seems you havent.

He is the most corrupt leader in the western hemisphere.
How? Has he sponsored in coups?
Has he made back door deals with major corporations?

He jails those that disagree with him or oppose him.
Right thats why about 45% of Venezuela's congress is in opposition.. And the majority of papers and TV are in opposition to Chavez...

He attempts to buy leaders of other South American countries.
Isnt the majority of South America on his side??
And how does he "buy them"?

He shuts down or takes over all media in the country that dares to state anything he does in wrong.
This is just false.... Major false...

Crime has sky rocketed under Chavez.
Actually crime is going down... Venezuela has created the new police force the National Bolivarian Police which has taken force in Caracas and crime is down 53%..
And crime has always been a problem in Venezuela. How is the Chavez's fault? Is he in with the street criminals all the sudden? Hell according to media in America he was once more dangerous than Bin Laden and was a coke head...

on and on and on and on...........
Lame...

I was referring to the web site, Venezuela Analysis, which according to their web site is a pro-Chavez organization.

CEPR is a progressive organization, so they are hardly neutral either.

I was referring to the web site, Venezuela Analysis, which according to their web site is a pro-Chavez organization.

I would just say they go way more in depth than the media here in America, and providing more news than news here in America as well... Showing the good not just the "bad" as they show here in America... Go more in depth..

CEPR is a progressive organization, so they are hardly neutral either.
How are they progressive?

So you turn on the TV one morning and Bill O'Reily is calling on the Army to overthrow the government, do you expect he will be on TV the next day? Incidently Fox News is broadcast in Venezuela every day. Also check out the political positions of the stations mentioned in this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_in_Venezuela

Aren’t doctors up to snuff in Hugo’s socialist paradise? What’s Chavez doing with all that oil money?

wasn't he going to start up a space program?:2razz:

I don't care at all if he dies, and I wonder if that will break his missile deal with Iran?? We can hope.

another internet conspiracy... we debunked this one somewhere on this site.

Kindof like that time Israeli intelligence released that Ven was supplying Uranium to Iran then wikileaks showed a cable with US fellas knowing it was impossible.

But then again there was a nuclear crisis with iran a few years ago... when theyre still years from even possibly having a bomb today.
