Dutch populist Geert Wilders acquitted of hate speech

You are making the accusation that I constantly call people racist for being critical of Obama.. so prove it. Else you are not only baiting but being a troll.

Didn't you once call me "homophobic"?

Labeling people is what Leftists do. Nasty lying little buggers, the lot of you.

Denial of the Holocaust is ignorant but laws denying ignorant people to speak out is something up with which democracies must not put. But we are not talking Holocaust denial here, a law that was passed some time ago and one which would receive little sympathy today. Even acknowledging that Holocaust Remembrance Day exists is being protested,

But there seems little doubt that Jews are receiving a bad time in Europe and that the attacks on Israel is also an attack on Jews.

There is more, and it is everywhere.

An attack on Israel is not an attack on Jews. If that is how you really see it, you've just called me an anti-semite to my cyberface. :)

While we're at it, what is an attack on Israel? Does being critical of their policies or how those policies are carried out count? How about general frustration at them for their part in screwing the peace process? Exasperation at them for whatever the latest salvo between Israel and Palestine turns out to be?

That's right! It's an attack on people who aren't Muslim.

Muslims are way more PC, now days, than Jews.

You can bet your butt that if Israel was a country in a sea of Jewish countries, this would be an attack on Muslims.

That's more ignorance of the facts, than an attack on Israel.

I have no idea what you're talking about, sorry.

It's the old "If you say anything critical about anything the State of Israel may or may not do, you hate Jews".

I am so sick to ****ing death of this ****.

And a lovely cyberface it is!

Attacks are being made on Jews with Israeli policies being used as an excuse.

I'm sure you feel strongly about Israeli policies, as most Europeans do, while at the the time paying less attention to the very serious and far greater problems elsewhere. No talk of boycotts of Iran or Syria, for example, or the Sudan.

It seems Europeans who dislike Israeli policies, whatever they might be, have difficulty focusing on problems within their own countries and cultures. And if they aren't attacking Jews and Israel it's Americans and America. Yet they seldom ask themselves why.

It's all Israel, all the time. To attack anyone but Jews or Americans would be racist, and Europeans would never admit to that.

I'm more pro-Israel than you might think. I'm just not blind to some of the stunts they've pulled at times and I refuse to pretend they didn't happen or to excuse them. And I agree that some attacks on the Jewish people are transparently veiled in attacks on the State of Israel, but they are the exception and not the norm.

So, you've never called Conservatives racists? :lamo

That is NOT what you said... you said

This from the same guy that constantly accuses anyone that disagrees with Obama, as a racist.

So show us where I constantly accuse anyone that disagrees with Obama of being a racist.

Have I called some conservatives racists? Of course.. because in 99% of the time they were. So... back to you... Show us where I constantly call anyone who disagrees with Obama for racists.

Wow, I sure am glad you showed up to raise the level of this thread with on-topic posts rather than painting with a broad brush.

Yes, but why the preoccupation with Israel, a peaceful country recognized by the UN over 60 years ago?

I see far fewer complaints against the Palestinians, despite their terrorism and teaching of hatreds to their young.

Part of the reason can be found in the charges in this trial under discussion. Muslims are saying similar things about Jews in Europe every day. It's all over youtube, for example.

But why do we prosecute Geert Wilders and not the Muslims?

The answer, I believe, is that we expect more from Jews, Christians, atheists and other non-Muslims than we do of Muslims. Until we expect the same from them as we do other members of society than the problems will increase and the split will grow.

In the meanwhile we'll see more craziness like this.

The only reason that Israel gets attacked, is because she is a Jewish state.

There can be no other possible explanation.

The only ME country that his hit this hard by Muslim terrorists, is Israel. Nope, it ain't rocket science.

I believe that's true. We do expect more from what we consider "superior" cultures. I make no apology for that. I make no apology for considering Islam in general, not just radical Islam, to be an inferior, unenlightened, seriously in need of reform belief system. There's some progress in some parts of the world, but it's slow and the religion keeps clashing with Western values. Where I disagree with most people is in that I believe the change must come from within Islam and not be forced by outsiders or it stands no chance of ever being in any way successful.

I agree but feel it has to be fought (if that is the right word) on two fronts. The NHS example is so silly but not that uncommon. We see that in Canada also, though perhaps not that extreme.

It's important that we simply say that such behaviour is unacceptable and if their religion takes precedence over their work then that will have to be their decision. This 'modesty' situation is just another example of things getting out of hand, and thus breeding unnecessary resentments.

I have to agree. Hate speech laws are bull**** laws and should be done away with. Any form of "hate crime" is just more bull**** laws passed to expand power of government. Crime is crime. We already have designations for crime based on intent (lie 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree murder).

I agree with that sentiment. These are merely laws designed to be able to fraudulently add more charges. Kind like some states being able to charge you for not having a tax stamp on marijuana if you get busted for possession or selling even though pot in most states is illegal. Hopefully the SC strikes down hate crime laws.

That NHS story, if actually true, is appalling. I take it with a grain of salt seeing as the original source is the Daily Mail and they're famous for either making things up or omitting important facts that change the entire gist of the story. However, let's for the sake of argument assume that it is true, I feel about that the same way I feel about pharmacists who refuse to fill birth control pills prescriptions: if your religion interferes with your job in any significant way, GTFO and find another one better suited.

It appears to be true as it's also in the Telegraph, quotes an NHS spokesman and applies to doctors as well as nurses.

This sort of thing is happening in many areas of the world but because people are reluctant to discuss it for fear of being labeled "Islamophobic", "racist", or. threatened or murdered, it's often difficult to connect the dots. As well, people are often indifferent to the problems and assume it will all just go away.

But seriously, appalling. Remind me never to get sick while in the UK.

There's probably a good plot for a horror movie in their somewhere.

An innocent and young buxom blond woman screaming hysterically against the gray NHS hospital sheets while the audience only sees the soiled gloved hands of the nurse slowly approaching her bedside.

Spooky!
