IMHO the US economy would turn around over night if marijuana was legalized, taxed, and regulated. There's a place for smaller businesses that sell pot to thrive as well. Just see what's happening in California. Big business doesn't necessarily have to control that market. There would also be no reason for pot smugglers to cross the border, and underage consumption would drastically decrease. I feel confident marijuana's place in society would mirror alcohol following prohibition.
