Americans are growing more dissatisfied with President Barack Obama’s handling of the economy and say it will be hard to vote to re-elect him without seeing significant progress over the next year and a half.
By a margin of 61 percent to 37 percent, a Bloomberg National Poll conducted June 17-20 shows Americans say they believe that Obama will have had his chance to make the economy “substantially better” by the end of 2012.
Only 30 percent of respondents said they are certain to vote for the president and 36 percent said they definitely won’t. Among likely independent voters, only 23 percent said they will back his re-election, while 36 percent said they definitely will look for another candidate.

Hmmm....Not looking good for 'the One'... Aren't these numbers lower than Bush at the same mark?

Well if they weren't, they would have...had the American people known how much he was lying about WMDs and yellow cake uranium. ;)

Not to worry...within the next 6 months he is going to appease the gay voters, will ignore the military leaders and announce troop pullbacks, will attack the wealthy and pull out several other little cheap tricks to show his base that the kid is still alright. He will win reelection. No doubt in my mind.

Its about the same. You have about 1/3 of this country that are hardcore democrats, 1/3 that are hardcore Republican and 1/3 that are independents......this is pretty much the way that this country has always been, give or take a few percentage points. Doesn't concern me at all.....the POTUS election is almost always determined by independents.

And what makes you confident that they will break in Obama's favor if current economic conditions continues? I'll bet that is what Carter thought also....

He didn't say anything of that nature, unless you're referring to some other thread...

Well, there's the possibility of Michele Bachmann being the Republican nominee. If that happens, the independents won't be able to run to him fast enough.

The funny thing about polls like this is that people end up voting for the lesser evil. While they may say no now, a good number will end up voting for him anyway, unless another candidate is a transformative figure, as happened with every other president.

I think this is a little bit of wishful thinking on your part. Obama only has a chance this economy starts rebounding in meaningful ways, like yesterday. And not the fake talking points that his sidekicks are throwing out there either...

BTW...Get a load of this:

Democrats call for new stimulus

WASHINGTON, June 22 (Reuters) - Democratic leaders called on Wednesday for new spending and tax cuts to boost the sluggish U.S. economy, setting up a fresh hurdle for bipartisan efforts to head off a government debt default this summer.

At the same time, a new report warned that the country could face a European-style debt crisis unless Washington cuts spending or raises taxes.

Isn't that great?!!!! More of something that didn't work, quadrupled the deficit.....Yeah!

I wanna be appeased. When he is gonna get with the appeasing?

You have to know that everyone believed that Iraq had WMDs because as Saddam said he wanted them to think he had them to keep Iran from invading.

That included nukes as the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission even believed, because Saddam was moving things to make it look as if he have a nuke program.

We know for a fact that he did have tons of chemical weapons and plenty of troops got sick when we burned them up.

So please don't say that anymore.

Besides this is about Obama's failures with the economy nothing else, and be assured that everything he has done has failed.

Sweet!!! Do you think he'll also pay for my car and house and get me that sweet job I always wanted?

I'm not saying that they will...I'm saying that this isn't cause for alarm...its pretty consistent with history. The independents are going to break on two things....1.....the economy....and 2.....how extreme the GOP candidate is.

Looking at the economy and the fact the Democratts art talking another stimulus I would say most will vote for anyone except for Obama

Most Americans Say They

Its very early in the game, and it all depends on who the GOP nominee is going to be.

If you put Obama and Bachmann... Im voting Obama.

If you put Obama and Romney, hunstman, i could live with the latter two... But it be on the condition of cutting back on the social conservative crap.

Yeah....try running Palin or Bachman....or Gingrich and see where that gets ya!

When half the people say it was better during the recession than now I think it does not matter Obama is a one term president just like Carter.

Then put your money where your mouth is....let's put Palin up.

These polls are meaningless before we know who is the competition.

The economy you are right on, and Obama is doing NOTHING to make it any better. How "extreme" a candidate is, isn't determined by liberal extremists thankfully.
