US troops coming home? Obama to say on Wednesday

What was Clintons position on Iraq and WMDs? Kerry's? Daschle's? Pelosi's? Kennedy's?

Only five? But I do know you should read Kerry carefully. I don't feel like linking it yet again. In his statement, he states clearly Saddam is not the type threat that would justify invasion outside the UN. He stillshouldn't have votedto pass the buck, honest demands we see it all. ;)

Didn't work with all the mass graves we found

Most of which happen long before 2003. Long before. When that was going on, we did nothing.Waited until it had long stopped, addedyears of sanctions to cause more pain, and then brought war that led to at least some 100,000 civilains being killed. Damn, it's a wonder they don't just love us to death.

That was to protect his own people; not us. Not his neighbors.

You got that all wrong. It was to protect the Kurds and to prevent Saddam from launching anymore cross border incursions.

The Kurds are his own people. And his attacking across the border was no longer a consideration.

The Kurds are his own people.

Um, no, the Kurds aren't, "his own people". Do some research.

And his attacking across the border was no longer a consideration.

Because there was a no fly zone to prevent it from happening.

What country are the Kurds in? Do I really need to show you they are in Iraq, and that they are not a separate country? Seriously, if you don't know this, you should never tell anyone to do research.

Because there was a no fly zone to prevent it from happening.

No, a complete separate issue. Saddam had his ass handed to him and was no longer a threat to attack anyone outside.

For overview purposes:

When Operation Desert Storm ended in 1991, the safety of Kurds who were fleeing from Iraqi persecution from the south became an issue, and Operation Provide Comfort began. This operation essentially created a Northern NFZ to Iraqi military aircraft. The operation provided the Kurdish population with humanitarian aid and reassurance of safe skies.

He was no longer a threat, because he was being heeled by the no-fly zone. If he hadn't continued to be a threat, there would have been no reason for a no-fly zone.

Iraq, Turkey, Iran and Syria.

You should do some research. :lamo

Yo, that is stupid. No one claims there are no kurds anywhere else in the world. Just as we can find Americans in other countries. But the Kurds who are Iraqis are his people, and these are the kurds we're talking about. Again, you really shouldn't be telling anyone to do some research. :coffeepap

No, he was no longer a threat because he had his ass kicked. We were only protecting his people. Nothing more.

Did you look at the map and notice that the souther NFZ covered the Kuwaiti and Saudi borders? Coincidence? I think not.

You may also want to do some more research and discover that there are no Kurds living in the south.

His army was still intact. Remember? It's the same army we faced in 2003.

It was a beaten, shattered piece of crap that couldn't last a month. He knew that if he attacked anyone, his time was over. You're really pulling for straws here.

You just made the claim that the Kurds only lived in Iraq and that they are Saddam's, "people". Saddam was an Arab, not a Kurd.

If that were true, there wouldn't have been a no fly zone, outside of the Kurdish areas of Iraq.

You should look at it again. The lines are only in Iraq.

Are you on drugs? I did no such thing. I said the people were were protecting were his people. And I pointed to the Kurds in the north. This is when it started. Later we added the south. There is nothing about any attacks outside the country being a concern.

Right. The southern NFZ covers the part of Iraq that borders Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Just because those countrie border with them doesn't mean they were why we had the NFZ. Com'on, this is silly. Only Iraq is in the NFZ.
