NBC Apologizes for Omitting 'Under God' From Pledge During U.S. Open Broadcast - FoxNews.com

The words were edited out of a clip of children reciting the oath -- a move immediately noted by viewers, who took to Twitter and various blogs to voice their anger, the Huffington Post reported.

The actual apology:
"Regrettably, a portion of the Pledge of Allegiance that was in that feature was edited out. It was not done to upset anyone and we'd like to apologize to those of you who were offended by it."

Notice anything missing from the apology?

I was glad that i didnt have to hear it. NBC can edit out whatever they wish.

Wow, they edit one segment and the Fox viewers get all pissy. That is funny.

Wasn't "under God" edited in the original words to The Pledge?

I think they should have left it in and offended a lot of people instead. When America has had enough of their draconian gods, they can edit them out in the ballot box. Meantime, I got to support the 1st Amendment and consider lsitening to their bull**** a sacrifice I have to make for my 1st Amendment freedoms.

It's there station, they can do what they want, no need to apologize. The under God part was added for political reasons anyway so it's not like that part should be treated like a sacred passage.

Its funny that those who are usually the most upset about eliminating "under god" are the same ones that care the least that the phrase "with liberty and justice for all" doesn't apply to everyone in this country.

It's sad that mistakes made during the McCarthy Era still hold sway with some people. Who gives a **** if they forgot "under God"? The pledge of allegiance should be all encompassing and not include religion to begin with. It's a pledge to the country, not to religion.

Fake apology not accepted and NBC no longer will be seen on my screen.

Really? But The Office is on NBC, and that show is awesome!

The Office is on Hulu...and i cant recall the last time I watched ANYTHING on network television...then again...who has much time for TV...

NBC is one of Hulu's main backers.

The words "under God" are there now and have been for over 50 years. To say "Well, they weren't there originally!!" as a reason for omitting them now is just kind of juvenile.

Should we go in and re edit the Mona Lisa?

your critical thinking skills need work. It was the NBC viewers that called NBC to complain about what they viewed on NBC.

This is the same on many networks. It's always a small percentage of people that call to complain about something whether it be this or something else that they found offensive. Sadly, rather than go through the potential legal problems, these cowardly networks crumble to the whims of the moral minority. When you look at the amount of people in their viewership vs. those who actually complained, they are definitely in the minority. Sadly, people don't have the willpower or common sense to turn the channel if they find something that offends them, and would rather call or write in and complain. It's impossible for any network to please everyone all of the time.

As is omitting them from the apology issued on air, for originally omitting them.

I don't disagree with the gist of your post. However, my point there was to explain to CT that it was not FOX viewers that complained, as he mistakenly assumed.

Agreed. Sorry, I was mainly using your point to expand on my own.
