Wow! Someone has an inflated ego.

I'm not going to explain to you what should be blatantly obvious. I will repeat what I said earlier since it didn't seem to sink in the first time around. If you can't see the obvious connection between God and religion, there is nothing I can do for you. If you really think that your unique view of it is in line with a majority of people, you are kidding yourself.

We all know why "under god" was added the the pledge. It was merely to inject christian beliefs into everyones lives.

    Not at all,

You could also state what god you believe in (the christian god, the jewish god, the muslim god, odin, thor, loki, Kali, Shiva, Buddha etc.)

You could also be state if the god you believe in also compells you to follow a certain moral code and if so it is a religion.

Now unless your believe in god, is just that some superior being created the universe and does not require any sort of moral behaviour among his creations, then I would agree you do not have a religon, but just a belief in some uncaring superior being that created the universe with no specific goals or requirements from it

Lol. You're the one who said it, dude. And now it's irrelevant since you're wrong? How about you stick to the topic?

Then why post? Thanks for playin'
Because I'm allowed to express my opinion that it's much ado about nothing and I find the attitude of the OP exclusionary. What's with conservatives and telling people if they don't like it they should just leave the conversation? I am fairly sure I'm in a forum for expressing political opinions.

No, I was merely refuting your assertion that no one should be in charge of things like this....If Johnny no nuts doesn't want to say the pledge, I don't care, his loss.
...Then no one is in charge of it. I mean, I guess they're in charge of when students are invited to say it, but they can't enforce it.

Says who? Atheists? Yeah, they would never pump their own numbers or anything....
Non-religious includes a lot more than just atheists. Atheists alone are somewhere around 2-7% (a solid number is hard to come by, in part because there are still places where discrimination is prevalent). So I guess since you don't like it, it doesn't count, huh?

No one said disclude (is that even a word?) them....But they don't have more of a voice than they majority.

The Pledge, a la 1950's pinko fear-mongering, is exclusionary of the non-religious. Whether they're atheists, agnostics, or spiritual.

I find it offensive and part of secular trolling. NBC can do what they want, but editing out "under God" is directly offensive to some people and really showed what NBC's goals are.

What specifically in the OP is 'exclusionary' in your mind?

I just find it a bit strange that it's a big deal, and the attitude that they must say "under god" in the apology (or at all) is a bit interrogating to me. They apologized for something they didn't really need to, but you're not satisfied until they say "god." It's this continued attitude I see trying to shove religion deeper and deeper into the American psyche. And the attitude of both you and jman that if we don't like it we should get out of the thread.

Yes - individuals can't just up and decide to change it - it must be done properly. . . but I say leave it alone.

Personally, I feel that the Pledge in its current form violates the first amendment's establishment clause. But you are indeed correct, individuals do not decide these things, and it is highly disrespectful to mutilate the proper Pledge as NBC has done here.
