Lying about sexting apparently isn't Rep. Anthony Weiner's only gray area.

When Weiner (D-Queens, Brooklyn) was photographed by the Daily News fleeing the Capitol in his Nissan Pathfinder, it was clear the July 2007 registration sticker in his window was expired, and there was no inspection sticker to be seen. Weiner, through a staffer, said the 1988 Nissan Pathfinder was registered in New York State.

Not so, said the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

The New York license plate bolted on Weiner's Pathfinder - US Congress 9 - had expired as of 2006, according to the DMV.

"That license plate should not be on a car," a DMV spokeswoman said. It wasn't even issued to the Pathfinder, but to another one of Weiner's cars, a Honda, according to vehicle records.

Valid plates were issued to Weiner's Pathfinder, but they don't have the helpful words "US Congress" on them, and so look less official. It's unclear what happened to those plates.

Some people ask "Why do you CARE if a politician does something questionable in his sex life? What does that have to do with his JOB?"

This. If you'll do highly questionable things in one aspect of life, you probably do highly questionable things in others. Now he's breaking a law that any of US would be in considerable trouble over.

What else has he done we don't know about?

I'm pissed that my tax money has been so poorly spent on his behalf - no hookers, no hummer limo? WTF dude?

LOL, damned if you're not right! Switching license plates is naughty, and he'll have to deal with that crap... but I'd think he'd be more embarrassed by tooling around D.C. in a 23 yr-old Hooptie!!

Not to bright is he? He should commit suicide by jumping from a two story building into a wood chipper.

I heard something about library books, and according to an anonymous member of his household staff, he insists the toilet papet rolls be installed in an inappropriate overhand fashion. And he NEVER separates his recycling.:mrgreen:
