BY EDDIE KIM – Gov. Neil Abercrombie caused a national media firestorm with sharp comments given on Thursday about the NFL, the Pro Bowl and the state’s deal to pay $4 million annually to host the event at Aloha Stadium.
The Pro Bowl is “so stupid”, Abercrombie said, noting that “You can’t do things like give $4 million to a $9 billion football industry and not give money to children.”
“That kind of egregious self-indulgence has to stop,” said Abercrombie. “Four million dollars is a lot of money. That’s the kind of thing you have to look at.”

I for one agree, the NFL should move the Pro-Bowl to a state that isn't lead by a short sighted, incompetent nincompoop.
 
I don't think the state should be paying to have the game there...The NFL has more than enough incentive to cover the came themselves, if they want it in Hawaii.
 
the pro-bowl sucks. i mean...it'd be a great game if the players actually tried. every marquee name in the league is on the field.
but no one wants to risk being injured for a meaningless show-game, so it ends up being as stale and boring as a pre-season game, imo.
 
The Pro Bowl is a waste of time. Paying $4m to host it is also a waste of time.

I side with the man who realizes when money is being wasted.

Yeah, investing 4 million for 23 million in returned economic activity is just a HUGE waste.
 
To demonstrate a sense of fairness and to spread the wealth the Pro-Bowl should be played in a different Stadium every year and base the order on the attendance of the year before with no repeats. The lowest attendance goes first and so on.

This would help the Cities and Stadium owners thay need it most.

I'll tell you what's useless. Going to Hawaii is overpriced, and I can get way more for my dollar going to the Carribean.. :)
