East Africa Al-Qaeda Leader Suspected in 1998 Bombings Is Dead, U.S. Says - Bloomberg
And the hits, they just keep comin.
The suspected leader of Al-Qaeda in East Africa, who helped organize the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, has been killed, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said today.
The death of Fazul Abdullah Mohammed “is a significant blow to Al-Qaeda, its extremist allies and its operations in East Africa,” Clinton said in an e-mailed statement in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania today, where she is on an official visit.
“It is a just end for a terrorist who brought so much death and pain to so many innocents in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam and elsewhere -- Tanzanians, Kenyans, Somalis, and our own embassy personnel,” Clinton said.
