It's real safe down on the Border, isn't it. I saw a program on National Geographic about the Border Patrol in the Nogles area of Arizona and that program flies in the face of Obama and Napolitano's lies about how safe it is.

On top of this Several members of Congress from California on Friday urged Governor Jerry Brown to opt out of the federal government's "Secure Communities" program which targets illegal immigrants.

I think there needs to be a law that jails people who refuse to obey Federal law like the Mayor & Board of Supervisors of San Francisco, the Mayors and Councils in L.A. and San Diego all are sanctuary Cities and it cost us billions every year, and the costs in California in part are picked up by the Feds.

There are illegals in every State, and the crime they bring costs even more than just the Social programs.

This is crazy and it's not about race because there are illegals from all over the World here taking jobs and costing us real money.

300 rounds exchanged during Texas border shootout

SAN ANTONIO - U.S. law enforcement officials exchanged about 300 rounds of gunfire with suspected drug runners during a pre-dawn shootout across the Rio Grande, but only about six came from the suspects, authorities said Friday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety, whose Rangers were involved in the shootout, said such an overwhelming response was standard given the United States' zero tolerance policy when guns are pointed at its authorities. Department officials previously said the Americans were under "heavy fire," but they've since backed away from that.

The incident began about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, when U.S. Border Patrol agents spotted a Dodge Durango near the lightly populated border town of Abram, Texas, said Steve McCraw, director of the Department of Public Safety Director. He joined officials from Border Patrol and Texas Fish and Wildlife for a news conference Friday in Weslaco, roughly 250 miles south of San Antonio and just north of the river separating Mexico and the U.S.

I heard the Mexican government really only controls about 30% of the country. I wonder if it's true. Regardless, our dear leader needs to post the military down on the border.

I guess this creates a good argument for open carry in Texas.

Those who couldn't destroy America from without are now destroying it from within.

Let's make it 300 mortar rounds next time.

perhaps another good point - if you expended 300 rounds, how many did you hit?

Probably none, if the firefight law of averages holds...

"it is not the noise of our burst, but the hits that count."

could have sworn i remember screaming that ad nauseum somewhere.

irrespective, if we are going to start exchanging gunfire with these folks; i expect us to be better armed and to start exacting a toll in currency of blood.

I agree with this. These traitorous scum are no different the scumbags who hire, house and or transport illegals. Therefore they should be removed from their positions, thrown in jail, and permanently barred from political office(appointed and elected).

As much as I disapprove of illegal immigration much of the sentiment here rings pretty extreme to me, 300 mortar rounds, a plot to destroy America? Jesus its nothing more than people trying to escape a very desperate situation, its hardly a free ride for them.

I landed about 90% of my 400 rounds on-target with my saw at the last free-fire event. It's doable.

Of course if we're talking 9mm, that's a different story.

with a SAW? what range? mounted? I'm impressed - generally my opinion of the SAW is higher only than my opinion of those who want to trade it out for a non-belt-fed weapon.

but yeah. 15 well aimed shots > 150 spray and pray rounds.

If anyone wanted to deliberately destroy a country, possible ways would be to not defend the borders, ruin the economy by creating unmanageable debt and unsustainable social programs, encourage racial and social unrest, vilify any political opposition and print money in order to create inflation and debase the currency.

There could be some I missed but these might be enough..

Qualification was don in the prone, with pop-up targets between 150-800 meters, and an NBC event in the middle of it. A lot of soldiers on all weapons actually shot better with the gas mask on. IMO it's because the mask forces one to calm down.

I shot expert, of course

The free-fire event followed qualification. Though scores weren't for the record, they were used for feedback and bragging rights. I shot my event from the mounted position. Quite a different feel compared to all the prone shooting I had been doing until then. I had a former infantry buddy as my coach, he taught me everything I know about the saw.

I must be the only saw-gunner in our company who likes the added pistol grip that came in the barrel-bag. The only thing I use it for is complying with our unit's absolute zero-tolerance 'you will carry your weapon in the lower-ready at all times' policy. For a while I just kicked my bipod forward and stood the saw whenever I was in a line or something, but I was put in the front leaning and informed that that was not acceptable

A collapsing but-stock would be nice, though.

we use shortened barrels and collapsable butt-stocks in-country. they're much better for going through buildings and on long patrols, but i wonder sometimes if guys forget that they are machine-gunners and start to think they are sub machine gunners

effing air force, man.... you know they schwacked the highest-ranking US Servicemember to be killed in combat?
That I do, especially in those B-24's and 17's.

My choice of weapon is the M-14 or modified Navy's M-21. It also comes in a mini version through Rugger.

Did you ever have a problem with ammo on the nut-sack hanging up on that lip? I've been warned about it, but so far I've only used either short links to zero or 200rnd drums.

It would be nice if you actually took the time to read the story before you say something some might think puts your ability to comprehend the written word, but I won't.

What I will do is ask that you read the following. These were were not who you think they were.

Does the word Cartel ring a bell?

Agents who gave chase found the truck abandoned on the banks of the Rio Grande, and a group of people on the Mexican shore unloading bundles of marijuana from rubber rafts, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Border Patrol agents say Mexican smugglers often use small, high-quality rafts to float drugs into U.S. territory, where they load them onto waiting vehicles to be taken farther north. Of late, however, smugglers wait with the rafts in American territory in case the vehicles are spotted and have to flee back to the river. There, they quickly put the drugs back onto the rafts and head back to Mexico to keep U.S. authorities from seizing the load.
