Exclusive: Weiner's Messages to Teenage Girl in Delaware Draw Police Attention - FoxNews.com

DEVELOPING: NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Police on Friday afternoon came to the home of a 17-year-old high school junior to ask her about direct online communications she has had with Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Two officers from the New Castle County Police Department arrived at the girl's home around 4:30 p.m. and asked to speak with the girl's mother about the daughter's contact with Weiner. Another officer appeared at the home a short time later. A FoxNews.com reporter was at the home when the police arrived.

The girl, whose name is being withheld because she is a minor, told FoxNews.com, "I'm doing OK."

The police left the home after about 30 minutes, followed by the daughter and mother, who left in a separate car. It was not clear if the mother and daughter were going to continue the conversation with police at another location.

The Weiner man is in trouble.

I'd bet we haven't even really scratched the surface.

And the beat goes on.
This goes to show that people who have no morals have a real problem and if Weiner sent this young lady anything like the pictures that have come out so far, he may well face more than the rather of others in Congress.

He could well face jail, but I am concerned that his wife who had nothing to do with this, is now going to be more and more drawn into this scandal.

She doesn't need this, and the betrayal has got to hurt.

I feel bad for anyone who goes through this. The kind of realization that comes when you find out someone you care about are not who or what you thought can be devastating.

17 isn't really that big of a deal. Isn't age of consent 16 in some states or is the US too conservative (ageist) for that?

If this is accurate, he is done and I have no sympathy for him.

I think that the rules about exposing yourself to a minor vary from the rules about having sex with an "of age" minor.

But, from the OP, there's no statement about any wrong doing--only that he had online contact with her.

But it makes want to laugh at him anyway.

I believe the age of consent is 16 in the state of Delaware.

EDIT:
§ 770. Rape in the fourth degree; class C felony.
(a) A person is guilty of rape in the fourth degree when the person:
(1) Intentionally engages in sexual intercourse with another person, and the victim has not yet
reached his or her sixteenth birthday; or

[EDITOR NOTE: We highlighted this in red as it is highly unusual!]

(2) Intentionally engages in sexual intercourse with another person, and the victim has not yet reached his or her eighteenth birthday, and the person is 30 years of age or older, except that such intercourse shall not be unlawful if the victim and person are married at the time of such intercourse; or

(3) Intentionally engages in sexual penetration with another person under any of the following
circumstances:
a. The sexual penetration occurs without the victim's consent; or
b. The victim has not reached his or her sixteenth birthday; or
(4) Intentionally engages in sexual intercourse or sexual penetration with another person, and the
victim has reached his or her sixteenth birthday but has not yet reached his or her eighteenth birthday
and the defendant stands in a position of trust, authority or supervision over the child, or is an invitee
or designee of a person who stands in a position of trust, authority or supervision over the child.

Not sure this is still valid

Him staying in Congress and refusing to leave is a very early Christmas gift to the Republicans running for office ... he may turn over the entire Congress to the GOP by himself.

I don't think the laws differ between "exposing yourself" and having sex provided it was consensual.

Also, is exposing yourself via an image online illegal? What about all those dicks on ChatRoulette? :D

No, but you were close:

The age of consent in Delaware is 18, but it is legal for teenagers aged 16 and 17 to engage in sexual intercourse as long as the older partner is younger than 30.

Title 11 § 761. Definitions generally applicable to sexual offences. (j) A child who has not yet reached his or her sixteenth birthday is deemed unable to consent to a sexual act with a person more than 4 years older than said child. Children who have not yet reached their twelfth birthday are deemed unable to consent to a sexual act under any circumstances. Crimes and Criminal Procedure, Delaware Criminal Code

Weiner is 45 I believe.

I think sending unsolicited material with sexual content to a minor may be illegal.
I have no idea what chat roulette is.

To Catch a Weiner

I have no idea what chat roulette is.

In the minds of some males 16 to 25....a place you can go online and girls will totally show you their boobs because you're that cool.

In reality....a place you can go online and likely see a lot of wang.

Its essentially a video conferencing/chat interface where the person you chat with is completely and utterly random. Two individuals get paired together with cameras and a chat room until one of them chooses to leave, and both get new random chat partners.

If he did it, it's a crime.

If he did it, it's a crime.

Yes, if he intentionally sent lewd text or images to a minor then he needs to burn for it. If it's just chatting back and forth (although why would he do so with a 17 year old girl?) then I don't care. Or if he didn't know she was 17. (although I'm pretty sure ignorance of age doesn't protect you, legally speaking)

Given what we know so far, it seems likely that he was trying to sex it up online with a minor. I'll give him the innocent-until-proven-guilty treatment, but if I were placing money on it right now I'd say GUILTY.

Which is too bad. I like him as a representative. It's nice having someone in congress who is unabashedly liberal and is willing to call out the GOP on their bull**** in a loud, angry manner when it's needed.

The guy is obviously a dick. ;) Whether he resigns or not, his career is over... as it should be. I don't know why politicians think that they can get away with this kind of dreck and not be held accountable for their behavior. Teary remorse isn't gonna hack it for a repeat offender like Weiner.

Wow that's way soft. The guy's a creepy mother ****er. I'm wondering if there's anyone he WASN'T planning on sending candid shots of his **** to. I remember comments about Mark Foley - remember him? Yeah, Weiner is cut from the same cloth. The guy should go, but if he wants to stay, it's good as gold political fodder and literally nails in the coffin's for many Dems seeking election next cycle.

That sounds way creepy... sounds like a pedo hangout.

Not knowing is no excuse.

The election is too far away. There will be at least 2-3 more politicians caught with their pants down by then. Americans have short attention span and by election this will be back in the rear view mirror. Somebody else will get to be in the spotlight.

Whenever you get caught you hope that the next guy is soon to take the heat off of you. Remember when the NC govenor got caught running to South America for a little sexual excursion and Michael Jackson died the next day or two. Now that was one lucky guy as the spotlight quickly left him

Ok.

Not knowing is no excuse.

In my opinion it's a mitigating circumstance.
edit: Assuming she had said she was 18 or something. If he just never bothered to ask then it's his own damned fault and we're back in burny territory.

No kidding. I am pretty open minded about things, but this just sounds wrong.

Which is why political commercials happen to remind everyone. And the shirtless Weiner taking pictures of himself in his Congressional office.

This is much bigger than the NC governor. Weiner now possibly has broken the law - not just embarrassed himself, his family and the Democrats. Like John Edwards, Weiner may have not only lied and crossed the line of decency, if this 17 year old contact pans out, he may be criminally charged. That's kryptonite to voters no matter when it happens.
