Seems like a waste of time for a state legislature to pass laws that will all be thrown out... Oh, that's right, it's the Tea Baggers, not real legislatures.

Well, hopefully they'll all be gone by 2012, and states can get back to business.
You may be right, yet the same was said about Arizona employer bill. Guess what, the SC backed Arizona. So your great insight to the SC, is just an opinion. Taking your stance I'll say the SC will find nothing wrong with the law. Guess we will have to wait and see who is correct.

it's just the more we add to it, the more it just becomes a "god-damned piece of paper".
    ummmm.... that is... utterly incorrect.

the amendment process is the way we are supposed to change the way in which we are governed - and the Constitution is quite specific. only those who wish it to be vague pretend that it is so.

There is already evidence the illegals are self deporting. The first batch headed off for Tennessee.

Since these are unskilled laborers we are talking about, the "macroeconomic shift" you are talking about is lower prices for lettuce, string beans and motel rooms. While the exploitation of these foreign workers may produce a net gain for those in states that do not host large numbers of illegals, for those states that do host large numbers of them, because they are paid so little, even if they have used phony ID's to work on the books, they will pay very little in taxes and because they earn so little, they are likely to be large consumers of social welfare benefits, so that in these states, despite the lower cost of salads, each one of them represents a net loss to that state's taxpayers. This is why it is so important that the voters in each state be able to decide to what extent they are willing to be exploited by illegals who are in turn being exploited by unscrupulous employers.

Where are the liberals on this topic? I really would like to hear their opinions on this.

Personally I cannot think of a good reason to oppose this law. It is illegal to come into this country illegally (duh)... and if the government wont do it's job, the states should be able to pick up the slack. This kind of law should be a federal law to begin with IMO.

But I'm always open to hearing arguments from different sides. Unfortunately those on the other side appear to be shying away from this topic on DP for some reason...
"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, it to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution." óJohn Adams

It is a done deal. We are already seeing the first illegals leaving. On a local radio show a person who owns rental property said one of his tenants came to him and asked for his security deposit back. He and his family were heading to Tennessee where they do not yet have such a law. The law will do what it is intended to do. If you hire illegal aliens you might lose your business licence. Awesome. That is why we voted those conservatives into office. They had their handshake with Alabama and they followed through.
