Nothing was said about "(coming) into your home and tell(ing) you what to eat".

    Was there now?

Within the government? Too many people, too much time, and too much money. Of that I have no doubt, however in comparison to other things, not to mention the amount of time, money, and people required to remove something from the government, there are bigger things. I don't disagree that its a waste, just there are bigger wastes to make higher priorities.

Shouldn't that be making a pyramid into a molehill?

While eating better is always a good idea, I have a better solution.

Get off your ass and you'll lose weight.

I think all this is happening cause Michelle is shaped like a pyramid.

The USA is a nation in an obesity epidemic. Someone needs to tell the you what to eat. If not the government, who?

    Bingo!

More waste of taxpayers money. We don't need no stinking government to advise us what we should eat. Like always, they've done more damage than good, wasted money and increased the problem.

This may be a waste of taxpayer money, but unless they put out something WORSE than the food pyramid, I'd say that it's about time...

My friends and I have known the food pyramid to be nothing but quackery for YEARS... There's a reason why the "average weight " is between overweight and borderline obese.

I saw this on the local news here. I laughed. They stated that the reason for the change was that the pyramid was confusing. I laughed some more.

I think the government trying to help educate people about healthy living is a good idea. There are a lot of misconceptions, lies, and countless other literature out there robbing idiots dumb enough to buy into them. Obesity kills. It runs up medical bills. Causes debt for Americans, and keeps Americans lazy.

Has anyone ever tried to eat 11 servings of grain per day?
It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.
