I feel that the tepco management responsible for the nuclear power disaster should face dire consequences. This event could have been avoided through standard saftey protocol, however, in order to save money in my mind, they decided to just take a chance and not waist the money on standard protocol. Then, after the fact, the attempt to discredit the facts of its misgivings by spreeding misleading and sometimes blantanly lie information. The company recieved a verbal repremand from the government this week. WOW. that must hurt! a verbal repremand like when you were late for curfew when you were a teen? really? really? this is what we get. It is a sham that we now live in a world where the following reality exsists; if you have 2 beers and drive, if you are unlucky enough to get pulled over for a burnt out license plate light, it can cost you thousands of dollars in fines and fees, possible jail time, and a permanent record that says your a criminal and hinder your job efforts for the rest of your life even after you've paid your so called debt to society. You pay for it forever. Run an nuclear power plant very poorly and cause a huge disaster as the result of trying to save money and poor decisons based on greed, kill dozens of people instantly, shorten the lives of thousands of people due to your poor decisons, and you get a verbal repremand? W O W
FOOTNOTE: I do not agree or justify drunk driving, however, the way the laws are written, you needn't be 'drunk' in order to be extorted for money'. the law is driving under the influence, not driving while intoxicated. That means you can't even have one beer with dinner out and drive home. It is unfortuante that out government saw an opportunity spurred by mothers against drunk driving (a positve organization esentially) as an opportunity to extort money out of people, take the rules to the absolute rediculous extreme, and ruin alot of peoples lives for something that that is really not wrong and should not be criminal. In the eighties i believe at one point the limit was .15 or .015, however the decimals work, i think that was probably pretty fair. Then it went to .010, which was rediculous. Then it went to .08 which is maybe one beer for some individuals and unconcionable. And as i stated before, it is really rediculous, why even set a limit when many officals will convict you of a dui when your not even at the limit. i know several indivdiuals that have been convicted while UNDER the limit. The government doesn t give a **** if you are safe or not, other than if your not alive to pay taxes, they just want an excuse to fine you alot of money, and they found it. They found a way to take more money from average people while letting corporations who rob customers and their only employees blind everyday, ruin their lives and get off virtually scott free. personally i think that is a travastey, which is why i think the members of the board and major management of tepco should be placed in jail and or recieve a death sentence from the government as they have caused so much pain and suffering in the name of greed. In addition, i think the corporations charter should be revoked, all assests siezed and used to first help the victims, and if the mangement is ever to get out of jail they are never allowed to be envolved in the formation of any company or corporation whatsoever. They must be workers, because they have proved beyond a doubt of their inability to be responsible.
