Fox News again accused of airing misleading video

Fox News again accused of airing misleading video - Yahoo! News

Quote:
Wednesday's incident occurred when Fox News host Gregg Jarrett mentioned that a Sarah Palin appearance and book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan had a massive turnout. As footage rolled of a smiling and waving Palin amidst a throng of fans, Jarrett noted that the former Republican vice-presidential candidate is "continuing to draw huge crowds while she's promoting her brand-new book,'' adding that the images being shown were "some of the pictures just coming in to us.... The lines earlier had formed this morning."

However, the video used in the segment was from a 2008 McCain/Palin campaign rally. In response to the minor uproar that arose after clips of Jarrett's report hit the Internet, Fox senior vice-president of news Michael Clemente issued an initial statement saying, "This was a production error in which the copy editor changed a script and didn't alert the control room to update the video."
So two production errors made for what is essentially the same scenario. Nothing suspicious about that. Both have massive crowds for Republican events misleading the viewer into thinking there were more people at the events than there actually were. Nothing suspicious about that either. I mean similar errors do happen. However the part I don't get is how FOX seems to air footage from cameramen who simply forget to label their work. I mean obviously the footage used by FOX would be labeled with fool proof names right? You know 'Republican Convention 2008' or 'Sarah Palin book sign' but nope. They just seem to be blank tapes handed from one hand to the next without question. The anchors seem to take whatever is on these tapes at face value. I mean magazines go through at least a 3 dozen pair of eyes before they make it on shelves but at FOX apparently they go through just one person, the producers. Interesting to say the least.

Re: Fox News again accused of airing misleading video

Get a grip they fessed up explained the error and besides what were they trying to put over on people. The number of people lined up in Grand Rapids.

Oh that's right I did hear that liar Glenn Beck say there were 1,500 people lined up there.

Let's see what MSNBC had to say. We know they hate Conservatives and want to maintain the pressure on Sarah Palin because they hate her most of all and they damn sure want to make clear the number of people she drew for the book signing. Let's see their coverage; http://www.wikio.co.uk/video/2024907
So MSNBC proves there was no reason or advantage to showing the wrong footage. Too bad nice try.

By the way this MSNBC piece wasn't news it was a hit piece or the reporter wouldn't have been asking set up questions of a 17 year old girl.

Oh my God they said what over 2,000 people, so it looks like Fox made a mistake fessed up and Glenn Beck lied he claimed only 1,500 showed up. Bag boy go to your room. I just remembered Hannity used the same 1,500 number on his show too. So they were both wrong, and on the same day. Make note of that.
Unprofessional damn right. Deliberately misleading no way. Just a stupid amateurish mistake.

Big Deal

So it wasn't 10,000 people? Quite a mistake for the fair and balanced crowd.

Re: Fox News again accused of airing misleading video

I got it wrong MSNBC said 1,500 at 7:00AM 3hours before the event and the reporter sad there were thousands and thousands there as she spoke so once again Big Deal.

We all know the media can't count they claimed the 9-12 tea party had only 10s of thousands in attendance but there were clearly over a million people.
Again big deal much ado about nothing.

Had the Fox had been looking at the video instead of the teleprompter he would have seen they clearly showed the wrong footage. A ten year old would notice what it really was.

We need to be worried more about the destruction Obama's I don't Care About You Health Bill and stopping it and not this trivial BS. It's just a distraction from the real issues.

Re: Fox News again accused of airing misleading video

it wasnt the media that did the counting of the 9/12 event it was the capitol police. The only ones claiming over a million were the teabaggers themselves and even then they had to lie and say they got the numbers from abc news. There was not over a million youre reaching.
Poor fox news though, the economy must be tough if they cant afford to pay a full production staff and instead use interns. It just seems everytime they make a mistake they blame some nameless intern. Fox and friends shows a photoshopped picture of two jewish reporters in which their noses are enlarged, teeth yellowed, eyes darkened; it's an interns fault. They show footage of bill jefferson while talking about john conyers, its an interns fault. They mislabel republicans as democrats when caught in a scandal, interns fault. The average shelflife for interns at fox news must be pretty short.
My question though is how year old footage somehow shows up when they werent talking about the 2008 election.

Re: Fox News again accused of airing misleading video

These are not mistakes. Anyone familiar with the production process of television news will recognize a contempt for journalistic standards and disregard for the truth. The temptation of television is that you can create a compelling story that never happened. Most news organizations are very strict about their responsibility to present the truth. Fox on the other hand takes full advantage of their ability to manipulate footage to create their own stories. This practice is contemptible, and the fiction that Fox is a news organization demeans those networks who try to present real news.

Stop lying. The girl voted in the last election, and Norah O'Donnell didn't pick her anyway, the man she was interviewing did.

And, as someone else said - nope, not a mill at the 9/12 teaparty. And, nope, not 10k at Grand Rapids book signing.

I seriously doubt she voted in the last election since she's only 17 years old.

And yes, Norah O'Donnell DID pick her.

What was that about lying???

Who mentioned anything about 10,000 people in Grand Rapids????
