Wake Up Call: CNN’s Election Coverage Finishes Fourth

Wake Up Call: CNN’s Election Coverage Finishes Fourth | TV | Mediaite

It is clear that being Bias on the Liberal side does nothing for ratings and you would think that someone in the Executive Offices of CNN would take note that being part of the Obamedia was not good for business and let's face facts. No one is in the news business for altruistic reasons. At least not any more. There were two in history that I know were close but just close. Those two being Edward R, Murrow and Walter Cronkite.
As I look at the numbers all I can say is I'm sorry so many are going to be out looking for works at all of these Obamedia outlets.
Do the math and it looks like they all fell very short even all together.

Quote:
Highlighting even further the ratings erosion at CNN in prime time, the “Most Trusted Name in News” finished in fourth place among cable news outlets during election coverage last night.

Fox News was #1 by a mile, followed by MSNBC, then CNN sister network HLN and CNN in 4th place. They were fourth in both total viewers and the A25-54 demographic.

CNN’s 4th place finish last night was only made more glaring because last year’s election coverage on the network was their best night of all time. They didn’t just have more viewers than every other cable news network last year – it was the most of all time.

Here’s the ratings breakdown in prime time last night:

FNC: 4,043,000 in total viewers (1,130,000 in A25-54)

MSNBC: 974,000 in total viewers (308,000 in A25-54)

HLN: 842,000 in total viewers (341,000 in A25-54)

CNN: 826,000 in total viewers (227,000 in A25-54)

Re: Wake Up Call: CNN’s Election Coverage Finishes Fourth

Have you ever considered that maybe most people have a life and don't sit around watching TV and listening to right-wing radio like so many of FAUXNews viewers?

Why go out and get a job when you can sit around all day listening to Rush and Beck and blaming everyone else for your problems.

This is a down the rabbit hole statement. Fox News drew more viewers than the next 4 "news channels" combined and your argument is that Fox News viewers don't work or have a life?

A more realistic view would be that more people trust Fox News than trust the Obama Media complex.

But since I know from reading your other posts that anything that airs on Fox must be faked or wrong or spun and all the others are just telling the truth, maybe people have just gotten to the point where they are eager to listen to lies because it is so much more attractive than the truth the "real news media" put forth.

I think you're actually reading this wrong.

Out of the three main 24/7 networks, CNN is arguably the "least" biased, with Fox News having a decidingly right spin, MSNBC having a decidingly left spin, and CNN having a slight left spin.

So with Fox finishing #1 and MSNBC#2, I read this not as results showing that the bias on the Liberal Side does nothing for ratings, but rather than Fox's attempt, and MSNBC's copied mirrored attempt, at appealing to a specific demographic with the way in which they present the news is actually a MORE popular option t han attempting to be relatively neutral.

What this shows to me is that cable news truly has became infotainment for the most part. Both MSNBC and Fox News do report the news, but they report it from the world view often of the particular demographic they're attempting to appeal to. As such, people in those demographics seem to be prefering to watch a station catering the news to their world view rather than one that is attempting to do with an attempt at unbias but still leaning away (either still to the left of those on the right in regards to fox views, and not leaning far enough left for those liking MSNBC).

Essentially, prior to Fox CNN and MSNBC both had a distinct, but not extreme, general liberal filter for the view point of their news presentation. Fox came in and basically decided to reach out to an untapped demographic, and was successful. It left CNN and MSNBC with a choice of remaining the same, or attempting to copy Fox's success.

CNN remained mostly the same.

MSNBC decided to take cues.

So there's the results we have. The channels catering to specific demographics finish #1 and #2, while the channel attempting to stay a relatively normal media medium (which is generally slight left) is at the end of the pack.

The angry fringe gravitates toward Fox... Like flies to ****.

Maybe if they got a job, they would be so pissy....

When it comes to the hard news, not opinion shows, I would say that Fox has the edge on being the least biased... but like you said, it is an arguable issue.

Quite a statement from a "Moderate". Seems we have different ideas on what moderate means. I think it means center of the road, left on some things, right on others. You seem to be saying that anyone who watches Fox is an unemployed right wing loser. That doesn't sound moderate to me.

I freely admit to being very conservative. Though I doubt that anyone who spent any time talking to me would call me an extremist on most social issues, fiscally, I freely admit to being adamantly and vocally very conservative.

Thanks for the welcome. I plan to be here all week.....
