Love or lust, Obama and the fawning press need to get a room

Quote:
When Barack Obama decided that questions from the German press about his trip agenda in that country were too pesky, he told the reporters, "So, stop it all of you!" He just wanted them to ask things he wanted to talk about. Well, what politico wouldn't want that?

OK, dad. We'll behave.

And according to a new Pew Research Center poll, we are behaving...like fans. On domestic press, it showed that "President Barack Obama has enjoyed substantially more positive media coverage than either Bill Clinton or George W. Bush during their first months in the White House" with "roughly twice as much" Obama coverage about his "personal or leadership qualities" than was the case for either previous president.

You can't blame powerful people for wanting to play the press to peddle self-perpetuating mythology. But you can blame the press, already suffocating under a massive pile of blame, guilt, heavy debt and sinking fortunes, for being played. Some of the time, it seems we're even enthusiastically jumping into the pond without even being pushed. Is there an actual limit to the number of instances you can be the cover of Newsweek?

So far, this is all about image and character and press "opportunities." But with what CNN financial reporter Elizabeth Cohen called this morning "gazillions of dollars" of our money at stake and crazy people with nukes bristling from around the edges of the world, we can't afford not to keep a closer eye on the substance thing.

Re: Love or lust, Obama and the fawning press need to get a room

Article was about the overt bias and fawning by the media over him.
Being popular is no excuse for the media to be kissing his ass like they are.

Article is from the San Francisco Gate a very left wing publication that until now fawned over Obama and excused the medias butt kissing.
Looks like that is ending.

Reagan was popular, but the press didn't like him. There's a difference. We count on the press to practice journalism, not editorialism.

You should learn to read articles. Here, let me quote the second paragraph from the study referenced:

Quote:
Overall, roughly four out of ten stories, editorials and op ed columns about Obama have been clearly positive in tone, compared with 22% for Bush and 27% for Clinton in the same mix of seven national media outlets during the same first two months in office, according to a study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism.
I bolded the key part to help you out.

here is another paragraph that might shed even more light:

Quote:
In contrast with Clinton and Bush, Obama’s treatment was more favorable than skeptical both in news coverage and on newspaper opinion pages. For Clinton, on the other hand, news coverage tilted toward the negative, while newspaper op eds and editorial offered favor. The treatment went the other way for Bush, with news coverage leaning positive, while op ed and editorials studied were decidedly negative.
Again, the key portion is bolded since to help you comprehend, you need all the help you can get.

Really, it helps alot if you actually read source material before commenting. It will save you from embarrassing yourself.

Article is referring to both..reporting and editorialism.
In fact its a generalist article covering most/all forms of news coverage.

As the second quote I made from the study, news coverage for President Obama has actually been less favorable than it was for President Bush the younger. It is editorial content where Obama pulls ahead overall of Bush.

I wish there was better information on the actual numbers of news and editorial stories and the breakdowns.
