Gordon Brown In The Media

Hello, I am a Media student and I am currently creating a project on Gordon Brown and how he is being represented in the media. I was wondering whether you felt that he was fairly represented or not? Do politicians deserve this kind of scrutiny?

I am also interested in looking at the way politicians are shown to be the embodiment of their parties, e.g. an attack on Brown is an attack on the Labour party as a whole. Do you think that the prime minister should carry the responsibility for their whole goverment?

Please provide quotes, debate, links anything that you find relevant to the subject and general discussion. The current title for the project is How influential are tabloid and broadsheet representations of Gordon Brown on an audience?

In advance, thanks very much!

I'd suggest that the media's feeding frenzy represents a reaction against the boredom surrounding New Labour, encouraged by its failure to 're-new' itself and securing a clean break from the Blairite period. Brown then is fighting a losing battle, with investment in his public image (including a bunch of advisors from the media and advertising sectors) doomed to be ineffective
