| Re: For the record... A couple of the social news sites I visit will often post interesting stories from horribly slanted sources. When I see one I usually look for the same story from yahoo news or reuters or such to post. If I can't find it I'll still post the story, but stick to the factual reporting and avoid analysis/interpretation/opinion.
It's like referencing wikipedia. Wiki has a liberal slant and cannot be trusted in the least to draw any conclusions. If you're using it as a factual source for historical information or the like however (as McCain did in the speech he was accused of plagairizing) it's better than most "legitimate" or edited sources.
The lefty (and conservative) blogs are horrible for analysis, but give more focus and often more factual information on certain subjects than more legitimate sources. They deal with a different subset of stories. You shouldn't ignore them, they do have supplimental information, but always look at their sources, always remember their agenda, and don't listen to any opinions or commentary |
