He was talking with Chris Matthews about how the Obamas went to college and went on to celebrated achievements. He was comparing the Obamas to the Cosby Show family and he said in a somewhat racially superior manner, something like, 'that's what we want them to do.'
It will be interesting to see if anyone in the blogger/online community catches this. |

Eugene Rivers of a church in Azusa California (I believe). He massaged the exact same Cosby comparison and the Obamas having gone to college, as a way, I believe, to help extricate Olbermann from the hole he dug himself.
And while he was talking and explaining and saving Olbermann's bacon they switched to the introduction of the short film on Michelle Obama which preceded her address. |

My very white parents didn't care, so 3/4 of my siblings are poor and on the edge of bankruptcy from one day to the next.
There is no race issue here...

If he was, then naturally he'd be a racist and this would be a republican trying to say America won't accept a black man unless he's viewed to be "like a white guy" in how he's raised, presented, and presents himself.
Thankfully Olberman's not a republican though so naturally not a racist, so there's no reason to take his comment out of context and specifically try to smear him by taking an innocent comment and twisting it into a massive faux pas.
(for the record, no, I don't think what Olberman said was "racist". And Yes, I do believe if Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reily said it the spin I just illustrated above would've been coming out the wood work)

Do y'all put that much credence in entertainment news? Who gives a flying **** about Olberman's opinion, even if it's misconstrued or not properly expressed?
And Zyphlin, I'd expect much better from you. Your post made my eyes roll so far at the back of my head, I nearly fell over.

Lean: Conservative Gender: Awards: | Re: Keith Olbermann May Have Just Made a BIG FAUX PAS Why exactly bothered you about it?
I agree with most of the people in this thread. It wasn't a racist comment, and trying to make it one is reading too much into it. However I very much do question Jeff and some of the others posting in this thread if they'd have the same reaction if it was O'Riely or Sheppard Smith or Sean Hannity or really anyone on foxnews.
I've routinely seen things stated by republicans be twisted to be racist and a big uproar over it. I think its stupid. For the same reason why you're saying this should be stupid. Its entertainment news. Its an opinion, generally misconstrued or not properly expressed. What's annoying though is the amount of brushing off and going "no big deal" is NEVER afforded someone on the right when they do something similar.
I think we read FAR to much into what these 24/7 news commentators say. Anyone that talks that much is bound to have something come out of their mouth that can be mistakenly taken for something other than they intended, and they're jumped on too much. I don't agree with Bhkad thinking this is a faux pas, though to be fair he's presented it as it MAY and a wait and see. This is less than usual on the other side, where its "Look what this racist said". Its stupid when people from EITHER side get so up in arms over something one of these guys says out of context |
