I've routinely seen things stated by republicans be twisted to be racist and a big uproar over it. I think its stupid. For the same reason why you're saying this should be stupid. Its entertainment news. Its an opinion, generally misconstrued or not properly expressed. What's annoying though is the amount of brushing off and going "no big deal" is NEVER afforded someone on the right when they do something similar.
I think we read FAR to much into what these 24/7 news commentators say. Anyone that talks that much is bound to have something come out of their mouth that can be mistakenly taken for something other than they intended, and they're jumped on too much. I don't agree with Bhkad thinking this is a faux pas, though to be fair he's presented it as it MAY and a wait and see. This is less than usual on the other side, where its "Look what this racist said". Its stupid when people from EITHER side get so up in arms over something one of these guys says out of context | Sheppard Smith is one of the fairest guys on that network. I actually like him.

Explain your reasoning perhaps?

Explain your reasoning perhaps? | I would say that he is just as biased, but more ethical. He may spin things and take things out of context on occasion, but he fact checks and admits his mistakes and apologizes. |

Current Mood: | Re: Keith Olbermann May Have Just Made a BIG FAUX PAS I believe there IS racism, and racism in America is huge. So let's get all this racism out into the open. Which race do you prefer?
1) The Indianapolis 500?
2) The Kentucky Derby?
Horses vs. cars? Or am I also looking for racism where there isn't any?

Not to mention the fact that everything requires context.
Neither the context of what Olbermann made nor the "history" of Olbermann suggest that the comment was in anyway racist.
What it seems here is that you're setting up a safety net for O'Rielly, Hannity and ilk so that when they are accused of racism - regardless of the context - that you can point and say well Olbermann did it too. |
