Well, the wiz kids at Google did work with the Chinese government to create a filter for words like: liberty, freedom & democracy, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

has nothing to do with censorship. The web designer either let some bad stuff get installed on the website, or programmed some code that emulated the behaviour of spy or malware.
