MSNBC has a great deal of bias. But they stop far short of using the tactics of Fox.
The batant issues of bias are not what concerns me.
Its the things that the average American is unable to pick up on that concern me.
FOX entire program is all aimed at electing Republicans.
2 recent examples are Obama's speech where FOX created a hideous yellow outline and changed the text format at the bottom of the screen.
It looked as though we were watching Russian Television or something extremely foreign.
Then when McCain spoke, it magically switched back to red white and blue.
When Scott McClellen was interviewed, pictures of a known criminal that was proven to be lying were put up.
And for over 5 full minutes they kept comparing Scott's body language to the known criminal.
It is the devious type things that FOX does that are less obvious, that separates FOX from the rest.
You can not believe a single sentence that is spoken or displayed on their screen without outside confirmation.
Because each and everything they show is working towards a larger agenda.
I am surprised that many think CNN is biased.
Depending on what time of day you watch it, they might even be biased to the Right now.
I watch all 3 regularly. Way too much actually.
From many of the comments i see in the forum about all 3, i am fairly certain that most of them do NOT watch all 3 regularly.

When the baby's mother and Father are not married to each other the mother's 'title' is "Baby Momma."
If they are married then that term would rightfully be considered an insult, UNLESS...
you believe there is no stigma or harm in being an unmarried mother.
This is a test of what your values are.
If you think it's an insult then deep in your heart you also believe that single parenting is wrong.
Time to re-examine your basic assumptions.
| Quote:
...it's a derogatory term but only because it's describing a relationship that has a negative stigma. And deservedly so.
And I agree it is insulting to use that term to a woman who is married to the child's father.
But the term has no emotion connotation when used to refer to the unmarried mother of a man's child or children. It's like Mr. Mrs. Ms. Mother. Father. Baby-Momma.
We use the word, "bastard" as a pejorative because it describes the family condition of a person's birth where the father is not married to the mother and that circumstance is frowned on by society. But the word, "bastard" in and of itself, is not an insult. It describes the family circumstances surrounding the person's existence.
I think it is debatable as to whether the full degree of the offensiveness was known by the person doing the CG (character generation, the person typing in the captions on screen).
My impression, as a regular Fox News viewer, is that they tend to hire people whose hearts are in the right place but who are a little rough around the edges when it comes to spelling, grammar, nuance or political intellectualism.
The CG operator may have thought it a non-specific generalized urban slang term to refer to just ANY mother. But as you and I both know, it means more and LESS (in terms of value judgment) than just that.
But even your connotation is slightly skewed, IMHO.
There need be no animosity attached to the term as you have described above in bold. Urban Dictionary: baby mama | |

My lord, the shock and embarrassment folks like poor Pete must have felt!!! Aside from the fact that of course McCain's campaign announced the matter, imagine the pain dealt to Pete's cerebellum when he finally gleamed that he had been duped into not knowing that Rove was on the McCain team, and he did not know because Fox did not tell him. Imagine that, a political commentator currently active in the political process, being a consultant on a cable news network!!
It must be tough to be one of the highly flustered and excitable folks who are unaware of anything about any news outlet other than Fox News, the 11 year old cable news channel. Imagine having only an 11 year old body of knowledge and having to post like you are knowledgeable with such a shallow pool to swim in. Many of these types are still quite hot and bothered about the great Chevron Ruse of '06, which apparently also fooled Pete, hence his constant hard on for Fox News. Fox News used colored graphics, Fox News put an R where there should have been a D in 2006, and it fooled idiots far and wide. Someone on Fox News said BABY MAMA!!! You can’t make up stuff this stupid!

Ah but then that is what you get with anecdotal internet claims aint it?

True that, you might even say that a given show host is not actually Fox News too. But by this point any forum vet will realize the futility of pointing that out to the oh so passionate "Fox News is" crowd.
Meanwhile, back to my point about the Fox News shows that actually aired McClellen interviews. In neither did anything John claimed actually occur. In particular it did not occur on O'Rielly during the interview, the show John is so ham fistedly trying to implicate.
Often times in the rush to announce a poorly perceived ergo moment, little details like those above get lost. It does not help if you've already got a set of blinders strapped to yer noggin too.

You can’t make up stuff this stupid! | And you don't get it but that's no shocker. Your biased partisan look at Fox News is as always very clear. Fox can not do anything wrong..
Then tell me this.. If its no "biggie" putting some text saying that he is on the McCain team, plus a Fox political contributor, then tell me.. why are they doing it now?
And why are they putting text about political affiliation or if they were part of one of the 2 campaigns on almost all other "contributors" and guests on Fox.. but not when it came to Rove?
Its again a principle thing.. something you clearly have zero clue about as we have debated time and time again... well I have debated, you have not. |
